Eagle Palace is a beautiful hotel very close to Lake Nakuru. The front desk staff were extremely kind. We liked that the hotel had hot water, room service, a TV and they came up to fix the safe for us. The coffee shop downstairs was yummy, too. They had a great menu. Usually, I would rate something like this either 4 or 5 stars. However, we are 2 women traveling alone and our travel agency booked this hotel. The area is awful. We were scared to walk to our safari jeep. We heard chickens all night. The hotel is in the center of a busy, third-world market, which means lots of little shacks everywhere with people selling fruit. We didn’t think it would be a big deal when we booked it, but we are from Los Angeles and it was a little overwhelming for us. My friend cried because she was so scared. The security was tight, but so tight that the guard had to walk us inside. If you’re used to these areas or you don’t really care, the hotel is definitely worth the stay. But please be safe and google maps the area and do your own research before committing. We would have changed our itinerary.
