I choose the Metropolitan hotel for its location next to the train station. It is very convenient with a lot of restaurants nearby and the Midori shopping mall where we stock up on Japanese snacks to bring home. The room size fitted the three of us plus suitcases for two nights. We had a mountain view with the train tracks below. Although we could hear the train alarms faintly, it didn’t bother us as the trains weren’t running late at night and we’re early riser. We enjoyed breakfast. The miso chicken is very good. There is parking available for a fee. The reception can also help post your postcards.
Size of this room was decent. We were able to leave two medium-sized luggages open with some minor maneuvering. No skincare (e.g. toner, moisturiser) provided for this room type. Pillows are unfortunately too soft and flat for my preference. Do expect some slight noise from the train station as it's right next to it. That said, its convenient location is the biggest plus point of this hotel with direct covered access to the bus and train terminal/stations. Also has multiple convenience stores and don quijote nearby. The Alpino bus stop and office is also right across the road. Would definitely be a return guest should we find ourselves in Nagano again! :)
