Monterey Bay Suites

We had a wonderful, short get-away last week in Myrtle Beach. I found a terrific deal from Monterrey Bay and spontaneously jumped on it. The rooms were immaculate, pleasant, and roomy. Every staff member that we came in contact with was polite and extremely helpful. I wish I had gotten more staff names, but I was only able to get the names of three. Barbara was a ray of sunshine every morning as we enjoyed our complimentary hot breakfast. She performed her duties efficiently and cheerfully. She brightened the beginning of each day by singing as she worked. Her voice and happy disposition were truly a bright spot in each day. Lauren (I hope I spelled it correctly) was the manager on duty as Hurricane Helene battered the area. On Fri morning, she calmly walked through the dining area, gave emergency instructions, answered questions about preparedness, and maintained order with staff and guests. I appreciated how she professionally and composedly handled the potential chaos around us. Because of the storm, I asked to extend our stay another night. Paulette, at the desk, was so sweet and helpful as she took care of my request. Each time I had to go to the front desk, she was so very kind and courteous. My family and I will definitely be returning. Thanks to everyone here who works to make this hotel such an enjoyable place.

Checked in and the room was horrible. Nothing like it was advertised. Our ocean view was really a view of the hotel next door that is being renovated. The living room area was about 8x10 and had 2 office reception type chairs, a small dinette set, a 20"tv mounted that couldn't be seen from the seats. All exposed pipes in bathroom. No vanity, it SMELLED like.mold. I asked to be moved and was told nothing was available. So I demanded a refund and we went elsewhere.

We use to stay at Monterey Bay every year but it had been 10 years since we were here. So Disappointed!!!!!! The shower controls did work correctly, air conditioning did not cool well in living room area, freezer did not freeze, room safe did not latch, no maid service some days….what a mess! We will not go back. Do not expect the room to be in the shape that the photos show. Good Luck if you choose to stay here.

Needs updates and better front desk night staff very old and some things not working paid almost 1000$ for a week I'm very disappointed 😔 I'll come back to Myrtle Beach but I will be going to another hotel I should get an major discount for this room or a better room period

The suites were perfect for our family getaway. The full size Murphy bed in the living room gave us privacy and was very comfortable. The full kitchen was perfect for our small lunch meals and the ocean front balcony was so enjoyable. The hot breakfast each morning was very good with enough choices to make everyone happy!

This hotel does not have parking to accommodate trucks, vans and large SUV's. The garage is very tight with small parking spots and very narrow pathways to the upper floors. We scratched the front of our truck trying to get out of the garage. There are a few spaces on the bottom level. but not enough to accommodate the volume of large vehicles. The breakfast was not as good as the website made it look like. The room was old (not updated) and didn't look as nice as the pictures on the website. The air conditioner in the living room was not working. It didn't cool even when left on the lowest setting. There was a constant whistle with wind coming in around the windows that needed to be sealed. The shower head did not allow enough water to flow through it to be able to rinse while showering. We paid for housekeeping services every day we were there and not one time did a housekeeper give service to our room. We took out our own trash and had to get clean towels from the front desk. There was no broom or vacuum in the room and after a few days there was so much sand on the floor it would get in our beds from our feet. We tracked down a maid and asked for her broom and swept our own floor. The pool area is not kid friendly. There are way too many blind spots with the layout. You cannot keep an eye on your child at all times due to the crooks, turns, curves and pillars. The elevator situation was a nightmare!! It took an extremely long time to get an elevator. Elevators were very hot and smelled bad. The posted inspection information on the elevators showed they had not been inspected since 2018, six years ago. Is that even legal?? One of the elevators was not working most of the time we were there. The website advertised a pool side bar. There was a small shack near the pool, but this was not a place to get a drink and was closed most of the time we were there. It also advertised a Starbucks, but we didn't see this while we were there. We will not return to this hotel, and we hope this review will prevent someone else from experiencing the aggravation we delt with.

We made plans this past evening (July 22, 2024), and found out very early this a.m. July 23, that we had to cancel. After speaking to several representatives (who were very professional) we eventually ended up speaking with Cindy. Rather than dismiss our concerns with policies and rules, she listened to our concerns with CARE and COMPASSION. Her decision helped to minimize additional stress. I also would like to commend Shekinah, who when I called Trip Advisor to make sure I could direct my review of the service received, gave me step by step instruction. Thank you to these wonderful ladies especially Cindy who treated us the way she would have wanted to be treated. We can't thank her enough!

Parking is terrible. I have a large suv and was told I could park in ground and got warnings twice. The breakfast is definitely not what was advertised on website. It’s a very old hotel with no updates. Pictures looked 100% better. Won’t return

We have been going to Monterey Bay resort for years and as always we were not disappointed this time room was clean and neat beds were very comfortable and the AC worked very well the place in my opinion is getting better you can tell since the last time we came ( last September) that they have been upgrading the building and pool areas this is a great place for family’s the pool is huge and now they even have a pool attendant there daily to help the guest.
