Deshadan Mountain Resort -The Highest Resort in Munnar

This is a hidden gem and I was lucky to have found it. A last minute booking made after they had a cancellation and hence the property popped up on my late search for a hotel / resort at Munnar. Called up the reception from London and Jilju very efficiently handled my booking. I was initially a bit apprehensive as many times, the photos on the websites do not reflect the reality. However, I was pleasantly surprised and in fact, some of the photos do not do justice to the beauty of this resort. The room was very big, well equipped, and with a great, unrestricted view of the mountains. The staff were all super helpful. Room service was very prompt. The rooms were cleaned very well, fresh towels provided everyday, and amenities well stocked. Their games room is not advertised well, but it is very well stocked with multiple carrom boards, chess boards, a TT table, fussball, etc. The restaurant is reasonably priced. Don't be afraid to seek Chef Jij and tell him your requirements. I bumped into him on the first night and while chatting, told him what I fancied eating. He ensured the food was prepared as per what I had mentioned to him. The staff at the restaurant were very prompt and courteous. Breakfast was good with a mix of local and other Indian dishes. It may not seem like a vast spread, but I am happy with it. Anyways, with vast spreads, you don't eat more than 4-5 items as it is. Plus, with vast spreads, the food is the same everyday. The resort is at the top of the mountain and is spread over a large area. They also arrange a trek to the summit, which is about 2.5 hours round trip and moderately difficult. All in all, highly recommend the resort and I am glad I found it accidentally. In terms of improvements, just one point: most of the TV channels are not available. It may help to have more TV channels made available for guests.

Ambience and stay was excellent. Service and food was great. The room service is easily accessible over a call.

We stayed in Room 202 from October 27 to 28, hoping for a pleasant experience given the hotel's views. Indeed, the room offered a stunning outlook, and it was clean, but that’s where the positives ended. The service was extremely disappointing. We faced multiple power and water outages, and contacting reception or housekeeping was impossible, as calls went unanswered. Each time we needed assistance, we had to go down to the reception and wait or look for someone to help. Breakfast was another letdown—limited choices, and everything served cold, from dosas and sambar to pooris. While a simple menu would be fine, the quality was poor in every way. When we ran out of drinking water, repeated requests went unaddressed. Altogether, this stay was frustrating and disappointing, despite the lovely views.

Excellent resort in munnar with family best option to stay, hospitality was awesome

Have spent a weekend with my family at deshadan mountain resort recently. Had a very pleasant experience. The welcome drink which was served soon after we got down from our car was so welcoming. The room as well as the food served was good as well. Even though the status was good, there were no other scope for activities. Couldn't go for the sunset walk as there was not option. The games area was not maintained properly though. They could have arranged some activities so that we could enjoy the nature and it's beauty a bit more.

It was really a pleasant stay, the location of the property is giving the superb mountain view and thrilling driving experience! the staffs are really polite, friendly and the prompt responses. The food was awesome! it was a great stay with family. Google map was trying to give the shortest path, that route was not really good, very narrow. If people coming late night, preferring to reach munnar town or hydel park first and then search for the deshadan.
