I had a long layover in Mumbai, and went to the Information desk at the airport for recommendations. I thought there would be a price list of hotels (as was at the Shanghai airport), but instead, the information desk person called up an individual known as 'Kunal' who quoted me some prices over the phone. Rs. 4000, he said. He then came to pick me up, but did not give me the name of the hotel. At the dropoff, a GST of 12% was added which was not included in the quoted price. After that, if it was not enough, Kunal demanded an extra Rs. 2100 from me as a fee (which of course was not mentioned at the time of quoting the original price and even at the time of picking me up). The hotel would not let me go to my room until I paid Kunal's fee, even though I already paid for the hotel!! With a flight to catch later, I did not have time for any altercation, and I paid Kunal Rs. 1650 rather than risk any further trouble in my last few hours in India. The hotel also does not even have bottled water in the room, and the sheets are not clean. I am going to go as far as filing a complaint at the Mumbai Airport about this being recommended, and report Kunal and Koshya Suites to the police.
