About this space Our little red caboose is located in the Columbia Gorge Scenic area, just 20 miles east of Portland, OR, and just a few miles east of Troutdale. It has its own bathroom with shower and a kitchenette, a queen bed in the main area & a double bed in the cupola. The caboose rests on 7+ acres, with a beautiful view, in a private park-like setting. There is lots to do in the area, hiking, biking, windsurfing, shopping and music and art events. There are also great restaurants and food carts in nearby Troutdale. The space A completely renovated, authentic railroad caboose, on a short piece of railroad track, resting on 7+ acres in the Columbia River Gorge, with a scenic view. The caboose has its own bathroom with shower and a kitchenette, a queen bed in the main area & a double bed in the cupola. There is a private deck off of the caboose, and a private picnic and campfire area next to the caboose. Guest access Complete and private use of the caboose, which has its own bathroom and kitchenette, as well as its own private picnicking and campfire space just outside of the caboose, and a private deck off of the back of the caboose. Cell phone reception is very good at our hill top location and there is also Wi Fi available. The TV has a fire-stick which can access Amazon Prime, etc and there are DVDs available in the caboose, including proclaimed top 10 train movies. Laundry facilities in the main house can be made available upon request and advance notice. Other things to note Sleeping in the cupola (2nd sleeping area) requires climbing up a ladder. The bed in the cupola is a 4' wide, 7' long, with 2 layers of 4" thick foam mattress. The caboose is often unavailable December through February, due to the winter weather conditions on the bluff where it is located.About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 12:00 PM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.Supervision for children is required for safety..About customRules:Supervision for children is required for their safety, especially for cupola, ladder to cupola, campfire and near horse area..Smoking (of any sort) is NOT allowed inside the caboose, on caboose deck or in fields. So many amazing and sweet little details. Great communication, they definitely go above and beyond. Very comfortable stay. My favorite part was the porch. They were still here in area. I could sit with it. Raining stay dry, which is my happy place.

We absolutely loved our stay in this charming little red caboose! It has been so thoughtfully refurbished into a cozy vacation rental, complete with a small kitchen and bathroom—and the cupola was such a fun and unique sleeping spot for our daughter, Katelyn.We happened to stay during probably one of the hottest weeks of the year in Troutdale, but the little air-conditioning unit did a surprisingly good job of keeping the caboose comfortable. One of our favorite things was the porch built right off the caboose. The views were absolutely beautiful and bucolic—it was such a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the surroundings as well as use the outdoor grill for our dinner one of the nights. Jennifer and Phil were wonderful hosts. We especially appreciated the simple, healthy and thoughtful breakfast foods they left for our four-day stay.Communication was great, Jennifer and Phil were friendly and helpful, and the caboose itself was such a fun and memorable place to stay. We were there Wednesday through Sunday and truly loved our time there. We would absolutely stay again!

This was gem of a place to visit and stay a few nights. All of the care and love that went into making this caboose a home for someone is spelled out with every inch of this place. From the tile work in the shower to the record player with a very warm selection of records to keep you wanting to come back. Absolutely loved it!

Jennifer and Phil are very gracious hosts. The caboose met our needs and wants perfectly. Check-in was easy and the place is clean and very quaint. We had no issues. We will stay here again.

We loved our stay in the Red Caboose! It is the perfect size for two of us and everything is very clean and nicely maintained. The property absolutely could not be more beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the nice covered deck every day and looking over the hills. They have the cutest little farmstand with delicious organic pears and grapes and more from their orchard, too! We will definitely be back again to stay!
