We felt quite comfortable in this historic hotel! Our "Larger Suite" turned out to be a bright and elegantly fitted duplex room in the new hotel wing comprising a living room with a kitchenette on the upper level and a bedroom with a king bed plus a spacious bathroom on the lower floor. Both levels have a balcony. Forget about the lower one but enjoy a nice view of harbour and bay from the upper level! Breakfast on the first morning had been standard but our two dinners at the hotel's Café Gannet had been superb. Their focus is on seafood and sushi and as the place is buzzing reservations are highly recommended. We ordered sushi, sashimi, crayfish, prawns, sole and stumpnose, a local fish we had not eaten before. Everything was fine - my favourite was the prawns. And - we have also been introduced to our first delicious Dom Pedro, from then on our preferred (alcoholic) dessert... A nice gimmick at the end of the fine dinner: The invoice will always be presented in a "hollow" fish (different designs used). If you look for something less formal just walk down Church Street to Mossel Bay Harbour with several small restaurants.
