Villa Le Botti

The views are absolutely stunning. The amenities are just too old. Stove looks like it is 75 years old and works like it also. Need a match to make it work as the igniters don’t work. The oven itself does not heat to proper temperatures and is tiny. The showers… wow.. barely fit inside and I am an average body type. During the first shower, I turned, and I moved the faucet handle and was welcomed with hot water that would have been much worse had I not acted instantaneously to shut it off. Every bedroom has the same sized square tiny showers. Definitely not comfortable at all. The washing machine is unbelievable small. Barely fit 3 towels inside. Not kidding. And there is no clothes dryer (really?) so you need to hang your clothes outside and hope it don’t rain when you are out and about traveling by day …. Which of course don’t happen so drying clothes outside is not a good idea either. No laundry basket, tiny refrigerator. ( actually two and one is smaller than the “main” one. Charge 0.60 for coffee pods… wanted to charge us $700 USD to heat the pool for a 6 day stay! And only keep the temp to 75 degrees!!! Insane. While the views are spectacular, you’ll be dismayed by all else.

We were two couples spending two weeks in the villa. The villa sits on the highest point of the mountain overlooking vineyards and olive trees. The views are breathtaking. The area around the villa is very well taken care of and has several sitting areas. They provide an abundance of cookware and dishes. They also provide a collection of wines from a local winery at a very reasonable price but not a decent corkscrew to open the bottles. The first day we were there we tried to use the cook top burners for breakfast but it was out of propane. The second day we tried to use the oven but couldn't get it to light because there were no directions. The oven dials were labeled with masking tape. There is a washing machine but no dryer however you can hang your clothes outside and they dry very quickly. You have to separate all your garbage in containers in the kitchen and then empty them in cans that you have to leave by the road for pickup. The most frustrating thing was the wi-fi. The router is on the bottom floor so the signal either kept cutting out or didn't work at all in the bedrooms or outside. I noticed that the local restaurants also had a problem with the wi-fi so I think the signal strength in the area is very weak. You also have to "rent" towels and linens. The quality of the towels was mixed. The pool and the area around it is very nice though the pool could use a hand rail to aid us old folks in getting in and out. There is one large TV on the lower level with programming only in Italian. Two days before leaving the shower in one of our rooms wouldn't drain. We were told to use the shower in one of the other vacant rooms. When we left it still wasn't fixed. Despite all of those annoyances we still had a great time in the area.
