Delightful renovated Masseria, a traditional estate building that originally housed the manager and workers. Large room with curved ceiling, large comfy bed and plenty of space to unpack. The bathroom had everything you need, though it’s a little old-fashioned. The whole ambience is carefully considered and rustic ally charming, rather than super luxury.
Staff were great from the warm welcome to the friendly breakfast service.
Meals, for residents only, are taken in the Veranda restaurant which does indeed have a lovely veranda, ideal for pre-dinner drinks, but there is also a saloon for chillier nights. The food is delicious, tasty, well-thought out menus. We didn’t bother to go anywhere else!
It is in the countryside, so you need a car to explore the many towns within easy reach, no more than 40 minutes drive, - like Barletta, Andria, Trani, Bari, Altamura - and other attractions like Castel del Monte and the site of the Battle of Cannae.
It was perfect for some gentle sight-seeing and plenty of relaxation at the end of our trip to Puglia.
Don’t miss the tour of the estate and olive oil tasting with Agostino. It gives a good insight into the challenges of being an organic farm.
