Great glamping camp in the middle of nature in Yala around 15 mins to the national park - peaceful and remote it is everything you want to truly enjoy the wildlife and nature experience. We stayed two nights, which was perfect but could have easily stayed longer. The tents were super comfortable- even providing an electric fan, super clean and waking up to the sounds of monkeys above our tent was the best. Staff are so friendly - nothing is too much trouble. The food was delicious, they catered to us vegetarians and served around a campfire under the stars. We did say we would have loved to have had a little more Sri Lankan style cuisine for the dinners, but appreciate some people prefer more westernised cuisine and it was still delicious. So no complaints but possibly something for them to consider offering. The best part is the wildlife experiences they offer… we did the evening walk around the local rice fields and lake and it ended up just being myself, my husband, Aruna (naturalist) and another Yala team member which was quite special as we got to spend time learning about the area and enjoying the peace and quiet. Scenery was beautiful and we got to see so much wildlife - birds, insects, monkeys and even a little snake as well as plants, flowers and a lovely sunset - we ended up being out for nearly 2.5 hours! The nighttime walk was also really great - it is shorter (approx. 30 mins) but you do see a different view you usually would not - such as sleeping lizards, birds and frogs and beautiful firefly shows. We did a full day safari with Aruna - we recommend not just going for the big things and although we saw leopards and elephants which was amazing, the birds and other animals are so special too and it was nice to take the time to learn and watch the animals at a lovely pace. The camp prepared a delicious packed breakfast and lunch for our day too. What we loved the most aside from how much we saw and learnt is the respect Big Game has for the park and wildlife and how conscious of their impact on this is - both at the site and when out on the walks. A special mention to Aruna who we got to spend so much time with, his passion and knowledge was infectious and he made our trip that extra special. We loved our stay and would recommend to anyone wanting to experience Yala as it should be, with nature.
