Hi-Tide Resort

We have been here 3 times now. Always stayed in the Ahoy Matey condo. We have enjoyed our stay the previous 2 times. Condo is always clean and has everything we need. We had noticed the older man who is the manager seems a bit bipolar or something in previous visits however this visit we saw him in full effect freak out mode. We called to let him know that the people above us were extremely loud and stomping so loud it was affecting our sleep, (we were woke up at 6 am) we could hear them talking/ yelling so loud we could hear it over the tv and they kept banging on who knows what and it was making our dog bark. We are not Karen’s but this was affecting our peaceful weekend we paid $550 to enjoy. He came over and beat on the door like swat was about to bust through the door and proceeded to yell and ridicule us because he walked by and couldn’t hear anything coming from their condo. He was very unprofessional and unhinged! It literally sounded like they were doing a remodel or something as loud as they were. We will NOT stay here again due to this person. Unacceptable behavior from him. This wasn’t the first time we’ve encountered his behavior. We checked in yesterday and he was sweet as pie which we noted since we had dealt with his bipolar behavior previously. I seriously thought he was gonna stroke out as irate as he was with us for suggesting an “owner” was causing a disturbance, He really should consider retiring. This place is great but he has ruined it for us.

Overall we had a pleasant stay in Condo #22 - Agate, although there were a few small issues. Two of the dining chairs needed repairs, the bedroom lighting was very dim, the heating system shut itself off so it didn't keep a constant temp in the condo, and there were some food crumbs sprinkled over the floor when we arrived. The cabinet doors under the kitchen sink don't fit the opening and had a board attached...a very awkward arrangement. On the positive side, the condo decor is quite attractive and mostly updated, the king bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck in comfortable cushioned chairs and used the living area fireplace twice. There was a flat screen tv, books and games. Staff were all friendly and helpful, although not always available when we stopped by the office. We did notice that the middle building slopes toward the beach side, so we assume there's been some settling and sinking over time. That caused the barn doors in the condo to slide open unless pushed completely closed. Wifi worked well. There are no fancy amenities for guests at this resort, just 3 buildings containing condos, a razor clam cleaning station and a grassy lawn with horseshoe pits and a kids' sandbox with toys. The upper levels of the 3 buildings provide the best views, but be aware there are no elevators. The "Resort" sits back away from the roads in a quiet setting near the ocean and river with paths to each, creating a laid back atmosphere. It was a good place for a getaway at a decent price compared to other nearby "resorts" and hotels.

Comfortable, clean condo, we stayed in Snipe #7. Well stocked kitchen, toiletries provided and very dog which we loved since we had our 2 dogs with us. Beach is a very short walk, clean and not crowded on a nice August weekend. Employee who checked us in was pleasant. While the condo & area was nice, I cannot recommend this property due to management. They are dishonest & unprofessional. I booked the condo through *********** with a prepaid rate that included nightly rate, tax, cleaning fee & service fee. Listing said “Dog Friendly with no additional fees”. I was overcharged $120, then another $94. They sent conflicting property rules, saying No dogs were allowed, bringing a dog would result in a $500 fine and eviction. Being confused by all this I contacted management at Hi-Tide by phone and email I had a terrible experience. Simon Berman and Laurie McPherson were very unprofessional, rude & unhelpful. Laurie actually hung up on me twice. I’ve never had someone in hospitality do that before, unbelievable especially since I was being polite. While they said the info was a mistake, they refused to refund a portion of the overcharges. They took an electronic signature from the original agreement and used it on 2 other forms I didn’t actually see or agree to. Due to all this I unfortunately have to recommend against this property. It is not worth the stress of dealing with the management especially since it is not an inexpensive place. *********** attempted to work with the property but after having the same experience I did, they took care of me and provided the credit. That is good customer service! Unless you can rent directly from one of the condo owners avoid staying here.
