"Marvejols goes back to the 11th century and is a town rich in history. It was destroyed in the 16th century wars of religion and rebuilt by Henri IV in the early 17th century. It was the cradle of the Gevaudan textile industry. From its distant past, it has retained its three main gates framed by round towers. Take a stroll through its streets and squares to discover the beautiful house frontages, 17th century wrought-iron balconies and details of Renaissance architecture. 8km from Marvejols, over 100 wolves (from Canada, Siberia, Mongolia and Poland) live together in semi-liberty, in the land of the legendary Beast of Gévaudan, these wolves have found refuge in apark covering several hectares - guided tours, exhibitions and theme-based museum."
