History of it but the train run 24/7 nonstop there but staff was amazing even tho they are short

Booked the Owen Wister suite through *******. They took my reservation and my money. Then got notified afterwards the suite and the whole historic hotel was unavailable. Since I booked through ******* I could not get money back. Got stuck in a tny room with tiny beds in an old back they put rooms in. Awful experience. After almost thirty years I will never go to the Virginian again and I will never purchase anything through ******* again.

This hotel has become the worst place to ever come visit. The staff are all very rude and have no manners. They treat locals and out of town visitors very badly. Their menu prices are outrageously priced, when before they were reasonable for their location. Before the new owners took over, people would have a place to stop to use the restroom, grab a coffee, stretch their legs, and have a friendly staff member welcome you and assist you any way they could at any time of day, and I mean any time. If you were a trucker, traveler, or a local, you could get a nice warm shower for $7. Now, you cannot. The bar used to be open until 10 p. M. On Sundays, and midnight or 2 a. M. On the rest of the days. You could order a pizza at 11 p. M. If you were hungry. Their restrooms smell like urine and feces, there is no toilet paper, no hand soap, and the toilets do not flush. The restaurant floors are disgusting, and so are the hotel rooms. Tours of the historic part of the hotel used to be available, now they tell you that the historic rooms are off limits to go and see. This place is horrible! I will never spend a dime of mine or my worst enemy's here ever again. Too bad because this used to be a nice relaxing, fun place to go now, you are lucky to catch the place open before 10 a. M. And it closes before 9 p. M. Most nights. Very sad to see such a wonderful place go to downhill very quickly. I will tell everyone I know and their friends to never waste their time on such a bad place like the historic Virginian hotel in medicine bow Wyoming.

Like that one can book a room online now. Check in very easy . Stayed in the motel , room was simple . Floor appeared to have not been vacuumed very well . Shower had a drip on the handle . The door didn’t shut securely, had to basically slam it to get it to latch. No dead bolt or secondary lock so did not feel security in that aspect. Make sure you are aware that trains come by frequently so if you can’t handle train whistles and rumbling this would not be a place for you. We slept ok , til about 3 or 4 in the morning when awoke to a man and woman arguing loudly. About 6 am the guest in the neighboring room started his diesel truck which was backed in to the parking space directly in front of rooms . The fumes from his tailpipe permeated our room , so we packed and left soon thereafter. Other than those issues,would stay again and eat at the nice restaurant , and stay in the hotel part , which have nice reviews. And hopefully don’t encounter one of the spirits supposedly inhabiting the hotel !

Lu is a wonderful chef and the bartenders are really friendly. The rooms are comfortable and the historic theme is phenomenal. The green chilli is a meal I'd order several times, and I'd highly recommend the Davewitch. Angela does great at her job and is such a kind employee. Love this business and have for years.

Restaurant review only. Sat for 20 minutes without being acknowledged by “staff.” Slow service the day the least. We made a special trip up here to see the hotel and have lunch. I will never do this again and will discourage anyone else to check this place out. Staff acts like they’re doing you a favor by waiting on you.
