Hazyview Sun

After reading reviews stating this hotel was not great we were pleasantly surprised that it was a lovely place to stay. Very large rooms, a little dated but very clean. The breakfast and dinner were very good and staff very friendly and efficient.

Very disappointing and uncomfortable stay. Booked here with my wife and newborn for the evening as we are used to Southern Sun but regretted it. I did read the reviews and wanted to give the hotel a chance but sadly the reviews were correct regarding the rooms. - We were first put into room 65. The pictures weren’t as per the website. We wouldn’t book a room with a baby in a thatch roof, which was dark, musty and a health concern. The carpets were dusty and damp. The pictures on the website also showed padded head boards as we needed this for the late night baby feeds. - We then asked if we could change rooms because of the above and that we needed a padded headboard for the above mentioned late night baby feeds to be comfortable. We were given hard short headboards 🥲Even downgraded from a king bed to two single beds in room 87 and it was late in the evening so we just decided to call it a night and not complain. No one followed to ask if it was comfortable or not, that was concerning. - We didn’t have a comfortable sleep, it was miserable and we kept waking up due to the bad smell, the bed sheets and blankets had a damp and dusty smell again! Like even if the rooms are damp, why does the linen have the same damp and terrible smell. Are these even checked? - Even told on duty manager to come with me to the room and smell the linen and he declined. - There really needs to be some serious spring cleaning in all the rooms. The carpets are dirty, lamp shades are mouldy and the aircon is a serious health hazard. - There was even a baby frog in the bathroom, the bath tub and shower doors weren’t even cleaned with a previous guests earrings left behind showing the lack of cleaning standards. Totally unacceptable - Disappointing for a Southern Sun property. - We all just felt like our chests were congested after that miserable evening. - I did tell the on duty manager about my feedback, he was all ears and apologetic but there was nothing forthcoming in terms of how to resolve this. Left very disappointed as the property itself is very beautiful along with surroundings. I really want a solution to the above from the hotel or Southern Sun itself as many other reviews have also pointed out the above but the hotel is happy to take customers money and not rectify this ongoing issue.

Das Hotel Hazyview Sun erreichten wir nach ca. fünf Stunden Fahrt aus Johannesburg. Es diente uns als Übernachtungsstätte bevor wir am nächsten Tag eine fünftätige Safari starteten. Das Hotel bot uns ein gemütliches, geräumiges Zimmer, das zwar schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen ist, aber trotzdem gemütlich und für uns absolut zufriedenstellend war. Das Abendessen in Buffetform war lecker, die Auswahl war größer wie erwartet und die Getränkepreise waren sehr fair. Auch die Frühstücksauswahl war großzügig und entsprach unseren Erwartungen. Das Hotel ist schön in die Landschaft eingebettet und hat einen schönen Pool, den wir witterungsbedingt jedoch nicht nutzen konnten. Der Service und auch die Freundlichkeit der Mitarbeiter war sehr gut. Wir empfehlen die Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiter.

Beautiful hotel with lovely gardens a short drive from Kruger. Nice bar and restaurant overlooking their lake. Lush cocktails to enjoy after a day out. Enjoyed a typical south African barbeque here. Great takeaway breakfast available for the early morning safari drives.

From the reservation to Restaurant and Chefs, Hazyview Sun has the best and delicious hospitality from dinner to breakfast, Rooms were in good condition very clean I can say it is one of the best hotels in Mpumalanga..The warm welcome exceeded our expectations.❤️❤️

This is by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed at. The rooms all have a damp old stink. They changed our room 3 times but still couldn't get a good fresh room. The walls have mould on them. The bathroom was not clean. The hotel room door requires a lot of force to close and lock. The room door also has visible damage. The bathroom door doesn't close. The Extractor unit in the bathroom sounds like a generator. The aircon sound from the next rooms were also very loud and disturbing. Breakfast was below average for when the tour groups were there. Once the tour groups left the service was non existent. Juice became imitation powder juice in jugs and live egg station was closed. This was a horrific stay for the the amount charged by this hotel. The mould and lack of cleanliness has made my husband and I sick.
