ChrisMare Hotel

The ChrisMare is a two-story small hotel in Mazzeo, next to Letojanni and close to Taormina. It is four star rated hotel, but I think it is rather a three-star hotel. It is very close to Mazzeo beach (across the street) where you can choose to use sunbeds or your own beach equipment. The bus station for Taormina is close to the hotel, and you have 10 - 15 minutes' walk to railway station. The hotel is small, so reception desk, lobby and restaurant are all in the same space. The reception desk and front entrance are closed after midnight, so you have to use back door entrance. The hotel stuff is very polite and friendly, and the service is, let's say, Sicilian way. For example, I asked for fix of the balcony door in order that we can lock it. This was on Friday, upon arrival. They said OK, we will fix it tomorrow. When I asked tomorrow, they said it is Saturday, we will fix it on Monday. They never fixed it during our stay. We booked superior sea view double room with HB. The room was large enough for two, and the balcony was great. Apart from the sea view, it was spacious and "L" shaped, so you can find the shade all day. The room was very clean, the girl who made the room did the great job. Breakfast was standard for three-star hotel enabling enough fuel for the beach activities. Dinner was very good; we tried the stars from the Sicilian cuisine. We had an impression that we are in someone's house, with hosts who are trying to prepare us the meal the best they can. The only thing is they start to prepare your meal when you appear in restaurant. So, you have to wait for antipasta (first course) around 20 minutes. But, as a result, your meal is always fresh and hot. This is also Sicilian way of working and living which is rather slow for most of the Europe. Anyway, the waitress should be more agile.

Sono stato in quest'albergo con mia moglie per la settimana di ferragosto, tutto perfetto, dalla colazione (di tutto e di più) alla stanza (grande e pulitissima). Per essere la settimana di ferragosto è anche costato pochissimo. Lo consiglio assolutamente!

L'hotel si trova in ottima posizione, il mare proprio di fronte, non ci sono problemi di parcheggio auto, la fermata del bus che fa la spola con Taormina è a pochi passi, ma direi che assegnare quattro stelle a questa struttura è assolutamente inappropriato. Manca l' ascensore, non ha frigobar, la porta del bagno aveva la maniglia rotta, non c'era luce sullo specchio del bagno, la colazione assolutamente scarsa . Le camere erano comunque pulite e il personale molto gentile e disponibile.

Una piacevole scoperta con uno staff molto disponibile e la signora veramente molto gentile ad oggi difficilmente si trova un team di persone così disponibili e gentili. 10 giorni veramente rilassanti, stanze molto pulite e dotate di tutti i comfort. Consiglio vivamente!

Mi dispiace ma proprio non ci siamo, se prendo una camera in un 4 stelle mi aspetto dei requisiti minimi. l'hotel si presenta come un alberghetto di provincia degli anni 70 ma il meglio lo riservano le camere. Mi accompagnano in una stanza completamente staccata dalla struttura principale con ingresso su un parcheggio da dove arrivano rumori di auto a tutte le ore del giorno e della notte, ovviamente nessuna insonorizzazione perchè la stanza è chiusa solo da una leggerissima porta in alluminio anodizzato, arredamento totalmente a caso, senza un armadio ma con un cubo di finto legno tutto scrostato che dovrebbe contenere... cosa ? non essendoci neanche cassetti. Stanza piena di specchi ovunque.. perchè? Sembrava di stare in un motel di quart'ordine negli USA. Ma la vera chicca è il bagno... evidentemente per disabili (almeno sono attenti alla normativa) mancante del bidet, del box doccia (ogni volta che si apriva la doccia si allagava la stanza), la cassetta del wc non funziona e bisogna pulire il wc con il doccino, il lavabo perde talmente tanto che ogni volta che ci si lava il viso contemporaneamente ci si lava anche i piedi . La tv non è predisposta per il video quindi funziona... come una radio, il frigo vuoto e spento perchè manca un adattatore per la spina... e potrei continuare all'infinito ma mi fermo qui. La cosa migliore di questo hotel è.... averlo lasciato. La posizione privilegiata fronte mare non può bastare a giustificare 4 stelle.

Happy been there close to Taormina with nearly no noise. Some steps to go only to reach the silent clean beach. Helpful people at the hotel. Beautiful meal 😉 and funny karaoke evening - Will come back again!!
