The Staff is EXCELLENT. The location is stunning!! But lots of mosquitoes However, the lodge provides everything to fight it! The amenities are well chosen, must I say the FOOD! is beyond delicious. The management has exceptionally created one of the most beautiful places + greatest service in the south area. I would come back a million times! Keep it up! We would highly recommend this hotel. We couldn't fault it. The service was exceptional, and the meals divine, with different daily menus. The hotel is surrounded by National Park, so it was fantastic relaxing in the grounds and enjoying watching the birds. The View Bar is breathtaking! The views were amazing looking down onto the coast. Our rooms were most comfortable and we slept very well. We also enjoyed the open-air bathroom. This hotel is very quiet, but perfect if you want to get away and relax. We would recommend booking private tours and not booking taxis through the hotel. They literally provide a taxi service, and that's it. Take mosquito repellent, especially for early evenings around the bar. The staff made us feel very welcome and quickly sorted out issues. This hotel is a real gem, a privately owned boutique hotel that is very special.

We stayed for 5 nights in a Garden and MountainView Pool Suite. It was an idyllic, beautiful location, surrounded by nature and wildlife. The lodge was in an incredibly peaceful and tranquil location. The room was comfortable and well appointed, and the outside shower was a real experience. From the View Bar there were spectacular views of the sunset over the island. The location is truly stunning. The food was fabulous. I was concerned beforehand as one of our party was a bit fussy and did not eat fish, but she came away saying that it was the best, most flavourful food that she had ever eaten! The staff were very attentive and helpful, and the attention to detail was impressive. The whole experience felt very special.

We stayed at Lakaz Chamarel last week to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. From the moment of arrival to our departure, the stay was outstanding. The location itself is special. Perched on a hill way up above the island’s south east coast, you are surrounded by unique fauna and flora. We nearly stepped on a Panther Chameleon (the only type to be found in Mauritius). We also spotted a mongoose, an oriental garden lizard and beautiful birds (like the abundant red-whiskered bul bul) - all around our lodge. From the View Bar next door we watched the island’s huge flying foxes gliding around at sunset too. We stayed in the Piton Rivière Noir chalet. We had our own infinity pool - from where we could look down to the sea - unforgettable. We were just a few steps from the path up to the summit of Piton Canot. Although a strenuous climb, the reward at the top was quite something. It’s a very peaceful place too and, as part of our package, we enjoyed a coconut body scrub, a massage and a couple of henna tattoos. The yoga session was good too - everyone felt welcome, regardless of experience. The meals were also top quality. We enjoyed the dorade and ruby snapper - everything so well seasoned too. It was here that we tried the local lychee wine - you should try it - semi-sec and perfect for the tropical food. What made the stay especially memorable was the warmth of the team who works there. We want to give a special thank you to Peggy and Thierry (the location managers). Peggy ensured that our late arrival would soon be forgotten by walking us over to our dinner table and letting us know we could complete the check-in formalities the next morning and Thierry was a gem too - offering helpful advice and offering us a late check out (and lunch) to make up for the time we missed due to our missed connection in Dubai. Thanks for the beautiful anniversary gift too! We’ll treasure it. 10/10. Perfect.

Whaw wat een ervaring!! Zo een prachtig kleinschalig hotelletje maar ohhh zo mooi ingericht! Wanneer de poort van Lakazchamarel zich opent dan kom je binnen in een waanzinnig mooie tropische tuin. Zo veel verschillende soorten planten, bomen, bloemen, vetplanten, palmbomen en cactussen.... Elk huisje is verschillend met elk een uniek prachtig zicht. Bij zonsondergang in de viewbar zit je precies in een romantische film. Zeer mooi zicht met zachte achtergrond muziek, een lekkere cocktail met hapjes en af en toe een vliegende hond die voorbij vliegt. Prachtig. Het eten is super lekker. Het Mauritiaans buffet is een topper. De service is zeer goed en vriendelijk personeel en Peggy is een schatje. Aan haar kan je alles vragen. Ik vind de ligging van lakaz top omdat je van daaruit zo veel kan hiken! De beklimming van Piton Canot is een toppertje. Dit hotel staat echt in mijn top 3 en ik ga zeker en vast zo snel mogelijk terug! Love it!
