Its fast becoming a tradition for my partner to treat me to dinner and a night's accommodation at the Prodigal Daughter on my birthday. The date is late in April, so we benefit from the autumn bounty in Rachel's garden. This time it was figs, cherry tomatoes and Granny Smith apples; as well as Rachel's own infused oils and cured meats as well as showcasing NZ salmon. I've experienced degustaton dinners that have gone overboard with rich, over-the -top courses; Rachel's 4 course dinner was superbly balanced and filling with well-chosen wine matches. Our accommodation in the refurbished cottage in the garden was spacious and very comfortable. Rachel's Prodigal Daughter is a tradition worth keeping.
