Riad Dar Sbihi is a true Moroccan experience, and if you don't want that, why are you going to Marrakesh? The area around the Riad is not affluent and (like me) you may experience a little uncertainty when you first arrive but as soon as the door opens that is all forgotten. The beauty of the courtyard immediately hits you, with the tiles, the greenery and the tranquility, then the quiet, calm staff relax you after the near chaos experienced on Marrakesh roads as you are shown to a delightful bedroom. The owner, Sibylle, personally guides you through the admin and recommends the things you should see whilst you are in Marrakesh. She is available to sort out most things for you, and you are a guest in her home, not a nameless client in a hotel. If you're looking at the Riad in a brochure, you'll see some photos and probably think that they have taken the only good angle and photoshopped them to make it better - you're wrong, if anything the photos don't do it justice. Breakfast was similar to French style and beautifully presented, ours were served on a table outside our room and the optional evening meals were very good and comparable in price with local restaurants. The only thing I disliked about the Riad was that the extractor fan in the bathroom was a bit loud - and if that worries you, you need some serious therapy.
