Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge

We arrived at the Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge at around 18h00 the evening of the 16 January. We were greeted by one of the friendly Staff Members with a drink and refreshing cold face cloth. After check in we were shown our room. Sebastian, if I remember correctly helped us with our luggage. We had a spectacular view over the Dunes with the Camelthorn Trees. After a refreshing swim, it was time for Dinner. Dinner was served under the Stars.We enjoyed the complementary Bottle of Champagne with our meal whilst enjoying the view of the sky above. The 4 brightest Planets all visible at the same time, enjoying the beautiful evening weather. After a good night's sleep, we started our day with a refreshing swim an a hearty Breakfast upstairs in the Boma. On our way out, we were greeted by a couple of Giraffes that were leisurely grazing along the Edges of the Pan in the Reserve. Namibia has so many hidden Gems. We will certainly be back.

Sérénité et paysage superbe En retrait de la route principale par un sentier sableux, un 4x4 est nécessaire pour y accéder. Verre d'accueil très frais. Bungalow spacieux et confortable avec terrasse. Lodge isolé, calme, idéal pour se relaxer et être au coeur de la nature. Piscine avec vue sur les animaux (oryx, springbok, ...). Le petit-déjeuner se prend en terrasse à l'étage avec belle vue sur les environs, mais un peu frisquet le matin. Nous avons participé au Sunset drive à travers un paysage de dunes rouges et avons vu quelques girafes, oryx, springbok et 2 rhinocéros. Arrêt au sommet d'une dune où l'apéritif est offert. La découverte du coucher de soleil à cet endroit est un moment intense: beauté, calme, paysage magnifique. Nous n'avons pas aperçu beaucoup d'animaux mais cela reste quand même un très beau souvenir.

As we entered the lodge premises we knew this was going to be nice. You do need a 4x4 to drive through the loose sand, but it was beautiful. The huts are comfy, and you are in the middle of the red sand. The safari was nice, although you do see some areas where they feed the animals. We lost our keys and the manager went above and beyond. Dinner was decent for vegans.

Die Lodge ist ein super Startspot für eine Rundreise, wir haben 3 Nächte hier verbracht. Die Lage ist absolut super, zumal man sich auf dem Gelände völlig frei bewegen kann. Die Häuschen sind sehr schön angeordnet, sodass die Privatsphäre gewahrt ist. Die Tiere - Oryx,Strauße, Giraffen kommen bis fast vor die Tür. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Abendessen in der Boma in familiärer Atmosphäre war besonders und sehr lecker. Den sundowner drive sollte man nicht verpassen.

Mooie kleine lodge in domeinpark in de prachtige Kalahari. Schattige rieten huisjes. Heel vriendelijk personeel en fijne sun downer met heel veel wildlife met ook 2 white rhino's. Fantastisch buffet diner bij het open vuur, lekkere bush meat.

Situated in the sand hills on the edge of the Kalahari the location of the lodge is perfect. The individual chalets are spaced across the sand around the reception and dining lodge. The lodge overlooks a small waterhole and feeding station for animals and there are generally some about. Game drives are available and quite good but the number and variety of animals is limited as you would expect in the desert. Meals are provided and are excellent with an option for game at dinner. Staff are excellent, welcoming and efficient. The thatched rooms are spacious and very quiet complete with air conditioning and the beds are comfortable.
