White Doe Inn Bed & Breakfast

My wife, adult daughter and son in law stayed 3 nights at the White Doe Inn and had all of our expectations pleasantly exceeded. We knew going in that the B&B was well rated and can confirm the Inn is well deserving of this high rating. We had a very memorable stay. The inn is well managed. Tonia (owner) is very accommodating and friendly, and above all a great chef. All breakfast meals were very good. Her afternoon happy hour snacks were also tasty, as well as the cookies she always has out. The back yard is beautiful and a very relaxing outdoor area to spend time, there are multiple areas to relax either with fellow guests are privately with just your group. The rooms are comfortable (we were up on the 3rd floor). Walking distance to everything Manteo has to offer. The Inn also offers very comfortable cruiser bikes. We didn’t miss having instant access to the beach, we really enjoyed the ability to walk to Manteo breweries, restaurants, wine bars, shopping, lunch spots, etc - we did not miss the traffic of the Outer Banks but were within a very short drive of access the OBX sights. Manteo is a very clean, orderly town and seems more relaxing than the Nags Head/Kitty Hawk area. Only minor glitch during our stay were some smoke detectors going off randomly that were addressed quickly (these did not cause any inconveniences - just part of staying in a historic house with tons of character). I would highly recommend staying at this property - you will get personalized service, a warm welcoming staff, be extremely comfortable and well fed. We will be returning.

The Innkeepers, Dave and Tonia, were wonderful hosts. Great breakfasts at a beautiful property in a beautiful location. Freshly baked cookies always available as well as a daily Happy Hour with tasty treats and selection of wine. All guests also have complementary access to gourmet coffee from a top tier self serve coffee station. The Manteo harbor and boardwalk are an easy walk from the Inn.

We had a wonderful stay at the White Doe Inn. We reserved the Tower Suite and it was very beautiful and cozy. Dave and Tonya Robert’s are the new owners and have great attention to detail and made us feel welcome. Tonya is also the chef and her breakfast selections were fantastic-especially the blueberry pancakes! We will come back often to stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast in Manteo.

The White Doe Inn provided the quintessentially charming and comfortable experience for my group of four writers. From the perfectly appointed rooms (each with a fireplace, comfortable bedding and furniture) to the delicious breakfast and happy hours to the accommodating host and chef (Dave and Tonia), we could not have had a better experience. They met our EVERY need and more, including excellent workspace and a lovely storytelling and s'mores night around a garden bonfire. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and hope to return in the future. We would give this place 10 stars if we could. Highly recommended for general tourism or small group gatherings. The charming town of Manteo is only steps away.

I stayed at the White Doe Inn for a four-day writers' retreat and we couldn't have chosen a better host venue. The inn has the perfect atmosphere for fostering creativity, and a combination of relaxation and energy. Tonia and Dave set aside rooms for us to hold our work sessions, gave us everything we needed for our work, and catered to our every need. They put together a storytelling night around the firepit with delicious food, wine and s'mores. This is the perfect place for a retreat for artists, writers, and all collaborators. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My writer friends and I organized a writing retreat at the White Doe Inn. I'd stayed at the inn many times before the new owners took over, and I've always loved the gorgeous old Victorian, so I was confident my friends would love it too (they'd never been here). But the new owners, Tonia and Dave Roberts, exceeded our highest expectations. They are the warmest and most hospitable of hosts, and made us feel like visiting celebrities. We treated ourselves to one of Tonia's private chef's dinners, a delicious meal of burrata, fresh garden salad, sea bass over risotto, and a raspberry semifreddo, all homemade, all cooked to perfection. They helped us organize a storytelling event for 20, setting us up around the fire pit on the lawn with drinks and sliders and s'mores and seeing to everyone's comfort with extra blankets and heaters. And wow, those breakfasts. Just look at the photos; as good as they look, they taste better. Bottom line: It's wonderful to see the White Doe Inn restored to her most glorious by owners who infuse everything they do with heart. You will love it here.
