The Malvern

Nice spa pool.

Everything about our spa stay could best be described as “in need of TLC”. The Rooms are tired and in need of a refresh. In between a Travel Lodge and a Premier Inn for standards. Very small TVs too. The Spa facilities comprises of one pool that is both indoor&outdoor and 4 heat rooms. The pool had missing tiles, looked quite worn. It was also easy to swim into the section walls of the seperate bays of the pool. The outdoor area itself was fairly bland/nondescript and more could have been done to try and hide the fact that there is a Premier Inn within eyeshot of the hotel (nb the hotel is not very near the Malvern Hills, it’s on a trading estate, right next to an Aldi and a roundabout). The heating rooms had two good saunas, a steam room that wasn’t very steamy and a room that I’m not really sure what benefit it offered. Breakfast was very good quality but the buffet section wasn’t regularly topped up and staff were asked multiple times for more plates or butter or toast. Staff themselves seemed friendly enough but seemed strict on processes. We arrived 5 minutes before check in time, and still weren’t able to view our rooms until precisely 3pm. All in all, it was an average stay and I wouldn’t go back.

From the lovely greeting at the reception desk, a lovely man with a jovial and warm greeting, to the sublime massage, from start to finish an excellent visit. On entering The Malvern you immediately feel like a very welcomed customer. They are polite, friendly and helpful. Once in the treatment area, you immediately feel relaxed, the atmosphere is calm and the lighting in the evening creates a lovely ambiance. Again, the staff are polite, friendly, welcoming and helpful. I booked in for the Pure neck, shoulder and back massage. Leah introduced herself and took me through to the treatment room. It was a well set up room with dim lighting and a lovely aroma. Leah was a lovely young lady and made me feel at ease and relaxed straight away. She gave me a fantastic massage, just at the right strength and hitting all the stressful spots just right. She was very thorough, working more on the areas where she found the most knots. I’d highly recommend a massage by Leah. I have had other treatments in the past and have never been disappointed. Thank you to all the staff I met today, you’re doing a fabulous job.

A very underwhelming experience. It’s just like a glorified Premier Inn and leisure centre. Situated on the edge of a retail park. A view of Aldi from one window and Premier Inn from the other side. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly but I’m thinking this is because they need to pacify their guests continuously. Rooms very worn and scruffy with stained carpets in most of the hallways. Treatments were very nice which is one positive. To call this a “Malvern Hills” retreat is extremely misleading.
