Billionaire Beach Front Apartments

The worst experience I’ve experienced and so very frustrating and disappointing trip. We were booked by my son to celebrate our anniversary and it was the worst anniversary we’ve had. The rooms were fantastic but there was nothing body lotion and only brought when asked for. Then there was nothing body lotion creamer for tea coffee. We called them three times within half an hour and finally they called back saying they had run out and they could provide fresh milk instead which would be charged. Then the two nights we were there we were thrown into their sister hotel to go for dinner which had a dull atmosphere without any ambiance. We asked for rose wine which came after all the starters were over as they’d run out and had to go to the store in our hotel only to find. We were paying a premium price at our hotel so why were we pushed into a lower priced hotel to have dinner. The beach beds didn’t have towels as they’d run run out even though it was low season so hardly any guests. When I ordered a pinacolada on the beach it didn’t come for 45 minutes and I had to walk myself to the bar to find out what the delay was to be told they didn’t have all the ingredients to make it. The two days we were there there were so many things which went wrong and all they said was we are sorry

Every time I come here - mainly for work - I forget how disappointing this hotel is. It’s really a way for the owner Italian Formula One driver to stash his antique and overcharge guests. The AC doesn’t work, no hot water in the bath / shower. Food is ok, S.p.A. and pool are the only reason to stay here but beautiful rooms are useless if not maintained.

The best gift for my birthday was my boyfriend booking this place for our first night together. From the reception to the housekeeping staff..Amazing! The serenity is healing! Clean,spacious rooms. Beautiful lawns. Well done food..Thanks to the chef. Our evenings at the bar were made interesting by Nelson and Rachel..epic services there. Fatma with a warm smile,checking on us frequently was heartwarming. Not forgetting Pendo the room steward..thank you for the room decor and oooh the Spa session!unforgettable! It was an absolute blast to be there. Thank you all.We’ll definitely come back some day.

Paradise! A fantastic hotel providing a peaceful oasis - very helpful staff, clean and great services across the Billionaire Resort. I would absolutely stay here again!

If you're looking for luxury, exceptional service, or any semblance of value for money, Billionaire Resort in Malindi is not the place. Despite promising a five-star experience, the reality is shockingly subpar, with prices fit for royalty but service that’s barely half a star. Let's start with the only positive thing I can say: the suites are spacious and seem good for families. But after you step into the nightmare that is their housekeeping, even that will quickly lose its shine. One old, tattered towel per day in a so-called "luxury" resort? Really? For the rates they charge, I expected multiple plush towels. Instead, I got something you'd find in a budget motel. To make matters worse, the fridge in our suite didn’t work, and despite their advertised amenities, there was no washing machine. The food? An absolute disaster. The "grilled chicken" we ordered was clearly just boiled and briefly thrown on a grill. Bland, tasteless, and a complete letdown. The rice was equally underwhelming—flavorless and dull. Every dish felt like no effort had gone into it. And don't even get me started on the "local food" we were served one evening—what they passed off as local cuisine was nothing short of criminal. Breakfast was another colossal disappointment. Day after day, the same uninspired selection: bland eggs, rubbery sausages, and absolutely no variety. No creativity, no attempt to surprise or delight guests. If you think the nightmare ends there, think again. The resort's taxi services are absurdly overpriced, making you feel like you’re being scammed at every turn. To top it off, the "beach access" they tout is nothing more than a sea wall with treacherous, steep stairs leading down to a rocky, unsafe shore. Hardly what one imagines for a relaxing beach getaway, and definitely not child-friendly. There are also no activities offered at the resort, so don’t expect to be entertained or catered to in any meaningful way. Billionaire Resort is, in short, a trap—a money pit that offers absolutely zero value for the exorbitant rates they charge. Avoid this place like the plague unless you're eager to be ripped off and leave with a bitter taste in your mouth.

I would not recommend this hotel. It is definitely not 5 stars or worth the price paid. Some comments: - Make sure, when you reserve in the webpage of Billionaire Resort & Retreat, that you are aware of where you are booking your room: options in both hotels (Billionaire and Lion in the Sun), pop up when you search, leading to confusion, and there are very substantial differences among them (seafront or not, renovated rooms or not, kitchen or not, etc). There’s around 600 mts between them (not the advertised 300 mts), one has to either walk for 10 min on the road or take a shuttle or bike to move between them. - The suite in Lion in the Sun looks nothing like the one portrayed in the webpage, it is very dark (barely any sunlight comes in) and needs serious maintenance/renovation (paint cracks, stains in the sofa, very old furniture, etc). - Very limited restaurant options (one in each hotel with a set menu for dinner in the case of Lion in the Sun). Extremely short menu for lunch in Lion in the Sun, limited breakfast options, and very frequently out of stock (no juices for breakfast some days, no sandwiches or burgers for lunch other days, etc). - Staff, even though nice and accommodating, has barely no information on the tours they offer and failed to book for us a tour and a spa appointment (after we repeatedly requested). - We went on a snorkel trip organized by the hotel but they failed to tell us that the sea was too rough to snorkel (even though we asked twice before leaving), and the boat did not have masks or life vests for the kids (again, even though they knew 3 kids were coming). Total disaster, they just wanted to sell the excursion no matter what. - No actual beach to swim is available, again pictures in the webpage are misleading: in high tide there is no beach and in low tide the sea is way to far and full of corals and rocks to swim. Sunbeds are actually in an artificial bank of sand the hotel has built. In sum, the website information is not accurate at all, and I am surprised that all comments overlook this (probably many of them are not submitted for real clients). Lion in the Sun needs an urgent renovation, and neither of the two hotels are 5 star standard.
