Vega Hotel Sorong

I want to position this correctly and fairly in that the hotel was absolutely fine / really good for a 1 night stay and will use it again (which says it all) when next connecting to Raja Ampat. However, I think it would be better for some if the hotel didn’t describe / sell their basic room as “superior” when it is in fact their most basic room (superior to what if the minimum offering?!) and made it clear that room was windowless. It was acceptable to us for a 1 night stay over but might not be for some and may have been a problem if we had been staying longer. The restaurant and outdoor decking area was good and the all you can eat buffet was very enjoyable and great value at 150k IDR each (c £8). The individual cooking stations were really good and a great way to taste the different local cuisine. Located near the airport which was handy for the next morning early flight.

Such friendly and helpful staff who provided excellent service. The staff went out of their way to ensure that our stay in West Papua went smoothly. Wide variety of delicious food. Packed breakfast for early departures. Clean and comfortable rooms.

Walking distance from airport (perfect place to avoid a 100k idr taxi fare from airport). Room is not quite big. But it is clean. Breakfast is average. But the MAJOR problem is, they played loud live music until midnight. Very disturbing for us who want to get a rested after a long flight hours.

vega hotel Vega Hotel is very close to the airport, I like the hospitality of the Vega Hotel employees, they serve with heart so I was very comfortable during my stay even though the room didn't have a window but the room was very comfortable. and I also really like the dinner promotions which are very varied and the prices are very appropriate.

You don’t have a lot of options in Sorong and I understand the region has its limitations and that other hotels are just as poor, but that does not mean this hotel deserves high marks for being “the least worst”. Over all room is fairly tired. Gritty towels, hair on the floor (not mine), cockroach in the bathroom, and no extra toilet paper. I will say, the service is good and the bed was reasonably comfortable.

The Vega Hotel is probably one of the two best hotels in Sorong. However it has a strategic advantage : only a few minutes away from the airport, litterally across the road. On the plus side : - the staff is great (reception desk, restaurant, etc) - the room is spotless, comfortable beds. - the swimming pool is beautiful On the down side - the corridors of the hotel seems tired -no sunbeds around the swimming pool, only straight uncomfortanle chairs -not a lot of choice in baverages Would I come back to the Vega hotel in case of a new stay in Sorong ? Yes
