We stayed at South View for one night. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, Drew and Penny made us feel welcome and at ease. It almost felt like visiting a friend's house. Great advice on local walks and eateries (and on bathroom renovations!). Local shops, restaurants and the Lynmouth Cliff Railway are all in easy walking distance and the Valley of Rocks can be reached on foot in about half an hour or an hour depending on the route you take with plenty of other walking routes to explore from the guest house without needing to get in the car . We enjoyed cheerful conversations over breakfast that never were intrusive. Talking of breakfast: the pre-order system is a good idea and the food more than lived up to what it said on the pre-order form. Everything was beautifully presented. The eggs were egg-cellent. The fruit salad was put together carefully using a variety of different fresh fruit - so tasty and really outstanding. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. Little special details included a variety of different teas and other hot drinks to choose from in the room alongside two roomy mugs, some oat milk and long-life milk mini-cartons (fresh milk is available on request). We found a parking space directly outside. It may be difficult to park near the premises during busy holiday times but there are spaces available behind the property and you can ring Drew to ask to reserve a space. There is no lift but the stairs are easily negotiable. The property is beautifully refurbished to a high standard (hence the tips on bathroom renovations Drew, who is a former carpenter, could give us). The care that Drew and Penny invest in their work and in the atmosphere around the business is obvious and they clearly love what they do: to give their guests the best holiday experience possible.
