Stanwell House

Very attractive hotel, restaurant and rooms. All the staff were lovely, but service was haphazard. Requested an iron from the receptionist, but it never arrived. No answer from the telephone in the room either. Had to go for dinner in crumpled clothes. Dinner menu is very good, but our order arrived with an incorrect starters and a tiny overcooked sirloin steak. (It was replaced with a more appropriately sized piece that was cooked perfectly).

So good it should be a secret.

Spent a night at the Stanwell House Hotel for our Wedding Anniversary. The hotel is lovely, really nicely appointed & they kindly upgraded us to a better room, which was nice. Maria on reception is excellent & Emily helped us find their Car Park (which is not easy to do). We had dinner in the restaurant, which was good, the service was slow due to two members of staff being off sick & no replacements being available. The restaurant supervisor however was brilliant (sadly forgotten her name) & did her best to make up for this. The Salt Bar was lovely too, but the barman was clearly having a bad night as seemed to find our simple order an inconvenience, which was a shame. The full English breakfast was probably in the top 5 of those I have ever had in my life (& I’ve had a lot) simply cooked to perfection. A credit to the breakfast team, which is always an underestimated part of any hotel. Book this hotel, it’s a great place to stay, just needs a few more staff to get 5/5.
