This place was surprisingly nice in a really cool town that wasn't really on my radar. It's a short distance to the sights and some really good restaurants. It was a little challenging to check-in since the street doesn't have parking and it's hard to find, but ring the bell or connect earlier with the owner and it'll be smooth I'm sure. The parking on site was nice because it's protected from the street, but like all of Europe, pricey. There is also a breakfast option, but didn't spend the money to find out the quality. Rooms are of a really good size, great air conditioner, and bed is comfortable.

We are a group of friends from New Zealand travelling Northern Italy by Vespa's and stayed in 11 different lots of accommodation, ranging from a Monastery in Rome to a 4-star hotel on the shores of Lake Como, but without doubt the La Gemma B & B gave us the best 'local' experience of our 3-week holiday. We booked 7 Rooms almost a year in advance and Gianluca was very helpful with the reservation process and equally brilliant during our stay. Breakfast was superb, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the rooms were charming, clean and comfortable, and the location inside the ancient walls was perfect. We parked our 10 scooters and support van at the B & B at a very reasonable rate and often enjoyed their lovely garden setting when having drinks and finger food each evening. If you are visiting from overseas and want a true Italian experience, then stay at La Gemma B & B - you won't be disappointed!!

Solitamente non alloggio nei b&b ma sono stata attirata dalle buone recensioni e in effetti mi sono trovata molto bene. Eravamo nella villetta a due passi dell'effettivo b&b di via della Zecca. Zona tranquilla seppur centrale. La nostra era la suite con terrazzo e vista sul giardino. Eravamo in due, ma avrebbe potuto ospitare 4 persone per via del divano letto. Letti comodi e buona pulizia. Colazione ottima, dolce e salato, succhi, cereali, yoghurt, toast... Wi-fi ben funzionante. Bagno senza bidet. Consigliato.

Ottimo b e b dentro le mura di Lucca vicinissimo a Porta Santa Maria. Dimora antica perfettamente incastonata alla città di Lucca che ho trovato davvero deliziosa. Ci siamo trovati molto bene, seguiti professionalmente dalla signora che ci ha guidati per arrivare agevolmente nel b e b e accolti carinamente. Parcheggio a pagamento presso il b e b molto comodo ad un costo accettabile. Ampia la camera con tutti i comfort, molto buona la colazione ricca di dolce e salato. Se dovessi tornare a Lucca non esiterei a sceglierlo nuovamente.

Loved this property. Couldn’t ask for better with the location. We walked to everything. Lucca is not huge but it was good to be in a spot that was fairly quiet at night. We were there for 4 nights that went over a weekend. There was a bar at the end of the street where a LOT of people gathered and there was noise from there but the minute the window was closed you could not really hear them. It was hot weather but the room was cool even with the windows shut so all good. There are restaurants and cafes close by and it is a short walk to the Piazza Anfiteatro where you are spoilt for dining options. Our room, Flora, was big. The bed was very comfortable, water was hot, WiFi was good and there is a fridge. The establishment itself is quiet. We couldn’t hear other guests at all. The included breakfast is very good. Plenty to choose from and should suit everyone. It set us up for the day. The only thing we would have liked was having access to make a cup of tea outside of breakfast hours. Not a complaint but it would have been nice. We didn’t have a car so I can’t comment on the parking area but it was an easy taxi ride from Lucca station. The hosts were amazing. Very helpful and friendly.we would definitely recommend a stay here.

Sono stata a Lucca con la mia famiglia. Ho alloggiato in un appartamento confortevole. Colazione ottima, composta da alimenti sia salati che dolci. Personale sempre disponibile ad ogni evenienza. Ottima posizione, dista 5 minuti a piedi dalla piazza principale della città. Da provare

We would highly recommend to anyone staying in Lucca. We stayed in the garden apartment which was amazing - spacious, air conditioned, well equipped kitchen, fabulous shower room and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was served in the main B&B house and was self service continental style with many different options and fresh coffee made to order, including decaf. The covered terrace in the garden was a real bonus. The staff were really helpful and went out of their way to give us the assistance we needed. Cannot comment on parking as we arrived by train from Pisa airport but would advise if you are carrying/dragging heavy luggage (in the heat or the rain) the walk from Lucca station was a bit of a challenge. Gemma di Elena kindly booked us a taxi from the apartment to Lucca station which cost 25 euro.
