North Star Beach Suites

North Star Beach Resort is truly a five star experience from start to finish! Mrs. MacDonald (Julie) is a delight, the oceanfront resort is gorgeous and beautifully decorated, Colin & Justin are welcoming and charming! Dinner at the Bothy was exquisite, delicious breakfast at the Coast Cafe. We’ll be back!

My father and I discovered this hidden gem while en route to the Fortress of Louisbourg. In search of a place for breakfast, we were pleasantly surprised to find this adorable restaurant (a part of North Star Beach Suites) open so early. Aside from the beautiful interior decor and cute little gift shop, the food was delicious and the service excellent. We left with our bellies so full and a bag of local goodies. We can’t recommend this stunning little place enough!

Great celiac options, very accomodating to my sister whose wheat free. We travelled to Louisbourg to see the fotrtess and stopped by for one night to The North Star. Nice lunch, would recommend. Reco the burgers and the vegetarian tomato soup

Nice place to stay for healthy adults; not suitable for kids or anyone with a disability. No ability to provide for anything unusual. Want dinner service outside of the busy time (but during opening hours)? Can’t do that. Want heat when it’s a cool night in summer? Can’t do that. Want a desk to work at when work suddenly intrudes? Can’t do that. Want to charge dinner at the Bothy to the room? Can’t do that. Need help after hours? Can’t do that. There’s supposedly a system to forward calls after hours, but actually there wasn’t. Can’t even leave a message. Food was ok for the price; no kids menu at the restaurant. Nice location on the water close to Louisbourg fort, which is pretty cool. I echo what others have said about rooms 18 & 19 being loud because they back onto bathrooms for the restaurant. Sometimes places get all this positive press from being on a TV show and forget that not everyone is a simple customer (i.e. 20s-60s and healthy).

Five days was not long enough!! We just enjoyed five magnificent days staying in the Grand Suite at the luxurious North Star Suites. The room was beyond our expectations!! Absolutely beautifully decorated, well appointed and a view that simply took our breath away. Everything in this rooms leads you out to a view that words can’t describe. Time slips by as you sit on the private balcony enjoying the ocean breeze, listening to the waves crash and watching the small fishing boats go in and out of the nearby working harbour. Daily when we returned from our outings we were greeted with a tidy room and fresh linens all provided by friendly housekeeping staff. From the moment we arrived at the front desk we were greeted by the lovely Mrs MacDonald. This woman makes you feel like a friend instantly, she goes above and beyond with no request or question an issue. Last, but certainly not least, Colin and Justin!! These two Scottish gents don’t just own this hotel, they are hands on in every possible way!! They are serving you dinner, bringing you your drink, clearing your table or simply stopping by to just to say “Hello” and see if there is anything else you need. They could not do more to make you feel welcome in their Hotel. This was our first time here but I can say without a doubt it will not be our last !! Sincerely the Roses

We stayed two nights in the Grand Suite during the first week of July. The room was well-appointed with a kitchenette, dining room and sitting room that was separate from the bedroom. The view of the ocean was wonderful and relaxing as we listened to the waves. The balcony was perfect for morning coffee and an evening glass of wine. The rooms are well cared for by the meticulous staff. The hotel is close to Louisbourg Fort which is a fabulous piece of Canadian history. The lighthouse trail and local beaches are wonderful. We ate breakfast at The Coast and enjoyed chatting with some local fishermen who shared some great stories. Dinners at The Bothy were delicious and accompanied by fabulous live entertainment. What impressed us the most was the hospitality that Colin and Justin offered. They took their time chatting with guests and sharing their hopes and dreams for this outstanding establishment. Overall they were great hosts offering great accommodations, great food and great entertainment. A must visit!!!!!
