Spring Arona Gran Hotel - Adults Only

I have been going to this place now for 3 years and I feel it’s beginning to look and feel tired I was very disappointed that not like before we had a taxi pick us up to and from the airport to hotel plus return this time we had to get a shuttle bus that ran on the hour if any delays you had to wait for the next bus the drinks are so expensive in the hotel and for the amount that we paid thought there could be a few perks but sorry to say no I won’t be rushing back it’s been nice but time to move on

This is truly a fantastic hotel. The rooms are not only comfortable and quiet but also exceptionally well-equipped (there's even a pillow menu!). The restaurants are absolutely beautiful, and the staff consistently deliver service that is closer to five stars than four. The spa is a lovely retreat and a perfect place to unwind. This was my first holiday where I had accessibility needs, and from the moment I booked, I felt fully supported. I am incredibly grateful to Anthony for his outstanding assistance in ensuring that everything went smoothly and seamlessly. From having a mobility scooter waiting for me at reception to having a table in the restaurant closer to my preferred buffet station, everything was taken care of with such thoughtfulness. I opted for the UP! Experience, which was nothing short of exceptional, particularly if you’re able to enjoy the terrace most days. It exudes a calm, luxurious atmosphere that really enhances the experience. Every member of staff I encountered was fantastic, but along with Anthony I would like to give a special mention to Neressa and Sabrina, whose kindness and attentiveness made my stay even more memorable. If I were to make a couple of suggestions for improvement: 1) The reception staff were lovely, but they seemed quite overworked, especially during peak check-in/check-out times, and 2) The only minor issue with the UP! Terrace was the frequent "pings" from phone notifications. Many high-end spas display signs requesting that phones be kept on silent, and it would be wonderful to see something similar here. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will certainly be returning in the future. A huge thank you to everyone who made my stay so special.

Third visit to the more expensive UP and actually the only reason we would visit. We love the quiet atmosphere and away from the animation down by the pools on lowest level. Water aerobics and other activities hold zero interest and lovely to be able to read and relax on the roof terrace. This year much cooler and the roof can be draughty when windy. The hotel is full of mostly retired age group and the roof terrace even older age group. The staff on UP are a delight and this year Anthony and Nerissa were a joy! Our UP room was spacious with a lovely walk in shower and everything you could need. Beautiful daily room service by lovely ladies. The only issue and it totally spoiled our first 3 days was no WiFi in our room. Kept reporting and given many excuses which were basically not true! Engineer came and shrugged shoulders! Eventually a simple router swap in room as it was faulty! Unnecessary stress! Great breakfasts and lovely to be in at 7.30 when much quieter as a huge hotel. Let’s us have a long walk before the UP Terrace opens at 10am. Dinner not our favourite meal. Dinning room crazy busy so we do not eat until 8pm to let the crush ease. We work round the cool to tepid food on the main course stations. Husband had salad starters then freshly cooked fish. I had the roast and chips if they were warm but often not. There is microwave. Nice to see they are refreshing the desserts and the cheese boards this year! Definitely an improvement. Wonderful Maitre d’ who was so welcoming and we remember him from visits to sister hotel Bitacora many visits years ago! We had a surprise visit from our daughter and son in law from Seattle so the hoilday became special after initial hiccups. Special thanks to Steffi for taking on board pre arrival concerns and our thanks for sorting. This airport is normally awful but credit due this year as we were out the airport in 15 mins! Already booked for Feb/ March 2026.

I am Going to start by saying how wonderful it was to arrive in reception and how effortless check in was. Stephanie was superb. We stayed in a Sea View Room on a high floor which was excellent. We already knew by reading other trip advisor reviews that we had to get water from the lobby. What an excellent idea. Lovely refreshing spring water whenever needed. Cleanliness of room excellent. Cleaning lady even helped us with an awkward suitcase when we arrived on our floor. Could not fault food at either breakfast or evening meal. Staff were first class. We cannot comment on entertainment because we went out after Dinner each evening. The pools looked beautiful but we are not sunbathers so did not use this facility. The Resort was all we needed it to be. We really enjoyed it. This was our first visit to this hotel. I am nearing 70 my husband is 72. and we are very well travelled worldwide. The only downside to the whole holiday was nothing at all to do with The Arona Gran or its staff or its policies. It is the awfully rude element of 'Old' people who have been visiting year after year who do not respond to a polite hello or a smile and make you feel very unwelcome, and criticise stupid things like not turning the bed down, making Swans out of towels, and constantly going on about sunbed wars. They are supposed to be on holiday, not amateur hotel inspectors. We are all on holiday and the Spring Arona Gran try their very hardest to please everyone and make it an enjoyable stay. Feedback Against the backdrop of many positive reviews on this site I would dare to post our opinion of this once great hotel. The group owners are clearly cutting costs wherever they can in order probably to help support the building of a fourth hotel nearby. We say that has been partly achieved by cutting quality of services to all guests which of course newer guests will not have experienced. It is rather like a dripping tap you hear/see it for a long time and then it starts to really annoy you! The first indication of declining standards were when three years or so years ago the bellboys who helped you with luggage “disappeared”. A high proportion of the guests here are the older generation, within which are a not insignificant of people with physical limitations. The "cover story" provided was that the reception staff would help but of course the reception staff are actually busy people checking in the myriads of guests and associated matters. After the bellboys disappeared in a “puff of smoke” so did the turning down of beds in the more expensive rooms along with the “swans from towels” that adorned the beds each evening. That was swiftly followed by the free bottle of wine (circa 4 Euros) that newer guests received and replaced with a single bottle of water.(.75 Euro).Some rooms no longer get even the .75 Euro bottle of water.! Sheets, as the days rolled by, were no longer changed daily unless requested by guests.(Please not the environment justification it is rather cashflow and manpower). The nice little containers of 4 chocolates which were placed in some rooms were replaced by a glossy “flat pack” of 3 all of which could not have been much smaller. I am unclear as to the couples of which there were many divided 3 into 4!!. A small point indeed but one which reflects in our view a degree of disrespect by the owners. Food. The once “posh” restaurant is more like a slightly up market cafeteria. Much of the evening food is disappointing in sofaras overcooked vegetables and as far as the meat (especially the pork) is concerned much of it would be better suited to providing boots for the military. Complaints amongst guests about the general food quality are not infrequent. The so called Gala nights see tables "rammed" together and whilst accepting they cannot be enforced dress standards generally disappointing. I turn to turn to the clearly hard-pressed staff and indeed they are hard pressed and fewer of them are brilliant but not in our view a “happy” bunch. To housekeeping and other staff the usual high standards of customer interaction. The "UP" facility remains its usual high standard in both attentiveness by staff and food/drink standards. Suspect the food is bought in from outside contractor because it is of high a standard. Finally Transport to and from airport. In military terms a "shambles". Guests are now unimportant as the taxis have now gone (more cost cutting) and replaced by, in our experience, a shabby coach which is d
