Waimarie Apartments

Sharon is a fabulous host, we had the most relaxing introduction to Lord Howe Island at our gorgeous apartment. So well appointed and with lots of room, we wanted for nothing, not to mention the fabulous local advice and transfers to restaurants when needed!

Waimarie was exceptionally clean, very comfortable, set in the most beautiful serene surroundings. The hosts were so welcoming, and always available for any questions. For those who are active, it is about a 20 minute into the township. Or you can hire a bike in town. I would highly recommend staying at Waimarie.

Waimarie was an absolutely perfect place to stay on our first visit to fabulous Lord Howe Island. Sharon and Peter are consummate hosts – generous, thoughtful, and respectfully present. After meeting my husband and me at the airport, Peter gave us a wonderful introductory tour of the island, sharing expert advice and ideas for hiking, biking, swimming, tours and dining. The apartment itself was immaculate, comfortable, well-maintained and extremely user friendly. Our every need was met and expectations exceeded as we discovered things like fresh flowers, eggs from the chickens they raise, homemade taste treats and delicious coffee - all provided. With a full sized refrigerator with freezer… a private front porch looking out over beautiful fields to Mt Lidgbird and Mt Gower, a separate private back patio full of blooming agapanthus, and a gazebo where we enjoyed cocktails and sunsets, coffee and morning bird song... we loved calling this delightful place "home". By bike or walking, Binky Beach and a beach (our hosts pointed out) at the end of the Lagoon, are in close proximity... as are several hiking trails. We enjoyed observing the arrivals and departures of flights - and their timing/sound was no issue whatsoever as there are very few and all during daylight hours. If you are physically challenged, as we were, FYI there’s a flight of stairs leading up to this apartment and a rise into the driveway when biking... these were no problem for us as our hosts graciously simplified any mobility concerns & accommodated every request we made. If you’re interested in being well cared for by hosts with a deep historic connection to Lord Howe, the beauty of a private/quiet setting, comfortable well-designed spaces, cool breezes and phenomenal sunsets – Waimarie is just the spot! We made our first ever trip to Lord Howe Island in October 2023 and chose to stay at Waimarie based on all of the wonderful reviews, especially about the hosts! Sharon and Peter have created two beautiful apartments in what we would stay is the best spot on the island, and back it up with amazing hospitality. We felt so welcome and looked after by Sharon and Peter, with lovely fresh bread and homecooked slice to welcome us, a tour of the island, and happily dropping us off at restaurants for dinner each night! Waking up in the morning looking out at Mt Gower and Mt Lidgbird from our deck made Waimarie feel like our own little slice of paradise. The location at the southern end of the island means you're away from most other visitors, but still an easy 10-15min easy flat bike ride into town. We loved spending our mornings at nearby Blinky Beach, and an evening or two having a barbeque picnic at Cobbys Corner. Lord Howe Island is amazing, and choosing to stay at Waimarie made it a truly memorable trip! We can't wait to get back and visit again!

Had a fabulous time at Sharon and Peter‘s place. The location and accommodation were absolutely perfect. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed and awesome views. Sharon and Peter were lovely hosts and we will definitely stay again next time we visit the beautiful Lord Howe Island. Karen & Mark

The perfect location to explore the island and feel secluded whilst in the centre, Sharon and Peter have thought of everything when it comes to to thoughtful touches of luxury and necessity in the cosy accomodation. Stunning views of the ocean and mountains. We will definitely be back!
