Everglades Hotel

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Everglades Hotel. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Our room was well appointed and comfortable. The food was of a high standard. I would highly recommend the hotel to potential visitors

We had a lovely stay. We went to a Motown show which was great. The room was lovely, everything we needed and the food and service was excellent. The receptionist on arrival was very welcoming. The pianist in the foyer was also a nice touch. Overall a very pleasant experience and we would stay again.

Available staff were generally good, with exceptions at both ends of the spectrum. Slow service characterised both the bar and restaurant, although the food eventually provided was excellent, especially dinner. Breakfast was fine, but the absence of a printed menu is an odd omission for a 4-star hotel. Such concerns, though, were minor in the context of other issues. One member of staff to be commended is Emee (spelling?) for her efforts to address a stressful situation. Having locked the hotel room safe pre-dinner, it was impossible to open it afterwards. Emee visited our room on two occasions, making great efforts to open the safe using both manual keys, and an ‘override’ code. The safe contained passports, mobile phone, and car key. Despite Emee’s efforts, no-one else was available to give her, or us, any practical help, or even instructions on opening a locked Everglades hotel safe. We were left with the ‘promise’ of a maintenance person being available from 08.00 am next morning. Luckily, however, after various attempts to open the safe, I tried yet again at 22.00 hrs, and it opened. Presumably (?) this was because enough time had elapsed between the original malfunction, and application of the override code. Had someone been available to provide this information, or give practical assistance, an unnecessarily prolonged, and stressful experience would have been avoided. Next morning, I spoke with the 'main' lady at Reception, to commend Emee's efforts, and also register our disappointment. Not even a token apology was offered, although there was an 'assurance’ that, if we'd had an early flight, a maintenance person would have been summoned last night to drill open the safe! So, in the absence of a reasonable response (a simple, 'sorry' would have sufficed) from politely conveying concerns verbally to Reception, the obvious follow-up was to later contact management in writing. Having since contacted the Duty Manager, a welcome, considered reply was received, which conveyed acceptance of the failings highlighted, and an apology on behalf of the hotel. Hopefully, therefore, any future guests will now not endure a similar experience to ours, albeit that any of our future visits to Derry will not include a stay at the Everglades Hotel.

Absolute chaos . Booked a hotel stay to ring in the new year in a relaxed atmosphere. A function was being held in the grill but when the meal finished there was no thought put into the seating arrangements. A 9pm on New years eve staff began to push settees and carry tables and chairs through the bar . People who had paid £60 each for the night were seated in the lobby in front of a constantly opening automatic door. The entertainment consisted of 1 guy singing an assortment of pop songs all in the style of greenday. 7.20 for a pint 15 for a cocktail. Dirty glasses left on the table all night. Every staff member with the exception of one older gentleman in the bar needs retraining in professionalism and courtesy. On checkout when I approached the desk the response I got to I'm checking out was OK. Not thank you not how was your stay . Do better . The countdown at 12 was started by a customer no auld ang syne nothing. No water pressure in the shower. A family seated behind us with 5 children were told the children would have to leave the bar at 10pm before the adults could be served which they did . Yet at 11.30 a child with a different family was standing at the bar in a grinch snuddie drinking a bottle of coke through a straw . You couldn't make it up

Went for afternoon tea for my friends birthday..service from the moment we walked in til we left was excellent...the food was amazing and the effort they went to, to ensure my dairy free requirements was met was above and beyond wat I expected.. Big thanks to our server Joel and oonagh who were very attentive and gave us a few laughs ..highly recommend for value and friendliness

My bestie booked afternoon tea for her and I as a birthday present...the hotel setting was warm, welcoming and very cosy...from we sat down our server Joel was very welcoming and attentive...nothing was a bother Enjoyed my afternoon tea...the sandwiches and sweet treats were delicious. Definitely be back to book again.
