Camden Lock by Capital

Great local in the heart of very lively Camden Town. Flat was very spacious and well maintained. 5 minute walk to the Underground station.

3.5hr Check-In Process The check in process was abysmal. So there isn't a concierge, but instead a lock box with a key. I coordinated with the property 24hrs ahead of time to drop my luggage off as I was arriving before 3pm, they said it would not be a problem. I arrived at 1:30pm and was unable to drop off my luggage. The property management said that they would connect with the cleaners to sort my luggage out, so I waited thinking it would be another 10-20 minutes. I messaged the property management again at 2:30pm, they said the cleaners should be there shortly. The cleaners arrived at 3:20pm. The cleaners did not have access to the key for the apartment (as the previous cleaners left the key INSIDE the apartment). I continued to wait as it was past the check-in time at this point. I called the property management company twice and she said that the cleaners should be able to let me in. The cleaner said that she didn't have access to the key, so it was just the most excruciating circle of events. I was finally able to check into the apartment at about 5pm.  There was miscommunication on many levels. All of which could have been avoided. If the key was missing, then a replacement should have been issued well before 3pm. The check-in process should not have lasted more than 30 minutes, let alone 3.5 hours. The facility itself was decent. The sofabed isn't usable as the springs are felt when lying on the mattress. The rest of the apartment is comfortable.

Apartment too hot, faulty fire alarm went off at 3 Very little information given, just instructions on how to get into the property. There were no instructions inside the different, it was so hot couldn't work out how to turn off the heating. Called their number, they had to get the property manager to call me, but by then I left the apartment. They wouldn't send someone told to turn the heating off for me, I was working so didn't get back till later and it was sweltering, I turned off the heating but it was too late. Couldn't sleep at all. Following night, fire alarm went off at 3am, was a faulty alarm. Apparently 4th time it happened that week

Lovely hot flat Lovely flat at great location. However, the flat is unusually hot, there is still active heating during the hot summer season, which makes it especially in the bathroom nearly unbearable. Found a sweet baby mouse and a big bug, but otherwise very clean.

If you want comfort and non broken items dont stay The fire alarm went off most nights we were there. No one knew how to contact the property to get things handled. I was a post partum mom with a small baby and two other kids. So standing out in the cold and going up and down the stairs was not easy post surgery. They were all false alarms/faulty system. It usually was in the middle of the night around 1-2am. We ended up moving our bed on the floor because the bed frame was broken and "fixed" by putting a couple of aide tables under it. My daughters window wouldnt close so we had to use items to keep it closed. The wall under the sink wasnt finished and had exposed wires. Having younge ones with that was a little tricky. The washer didnt work very well it took 3+ hours for our laundry to be done. The manual wasnt there so we never did figure out how to wash AND dry our clothes. We hung them up. The pull out couch was broken. The supports on the left side were completely gone so if you sat on it you would lean. We had to very carefully pull it out just right for my son to sleep there. There was nothing to really sweep or keep things clean while we stayed for us to use. Looking at the place in pictures it looks clean and modern,but when we got here it was a lot of smoke and mirrors. I really was hoping for a better more comfortable experience.
