Fossheim Hotel Lom

First time at Fossheim - definitely not the last. Excellent dining - super nice & very serviceminded staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Our room in the main building had great view to the mountains. Will visit again at my next adventure in Jotunheimen

My friend booked a stay for two nights last summer at Fossheim hotel during our journey from Oslo to Bergen. The food was perfect and we had a great stay. It is an old charming hotel and therefore some noise from neighbor room. Our neighbor was really noisy this night. Late night I went down to the reception in order to change room. There was no one there but I heard noise in the restaurant/kitchen and someone shouting “ DU ER SÅÅÅ DIGGG!”. It sounds like someone had a really tasty desert, and I headed for the kitchen. I knocked on the folding door, but no one responded. There was a lot of noise and I therefore opened the door. I was shocked when I saw a waitress with long dark hair undressed doing really intime things with the cook on the kitchen table where the food is prepared. Next morning I talked to a receptionist about what i saw in the kitchen. She looked resigned and shoked, and said “Ingrid glemmer stadig at hun er gift, men blir alltid tilgitt*. She continued saying that luckely there was only one cook involved this time. We had not much sleep this night but the next night was better. It is great to see employees at the hotel have enjoyable days and the promoted ‘romantic weekend’ also applies for the staff.

This hotel is authentic Norway and quite a gem. There are wonderful small log cabins in addition to the more traditional hotel rooms. This is an historic property visited by the Norwegian Royal family and it has a wonderful restaurant. The breakfast is good and the dinner is outstanding. Many of the summer wait staff are local or from other parts of Scandinavia. They are energetic and fun. If you want to visit real Norway, try this hotel run by the same family for 5 generations.

Dit is een mooi oud hotel , prachtig ingericht met originele elementen van vroeger. De kamer was gezellig met een balkon en een zit hoek. Het ontbijt was zeer goed en het diner was goed verzorgd en omdat we 2 avonden bleven kregen we een ander menu aangeboden. Gezellige zitjes waar je kan genieten van het uitzicht met een G&T. De Staafkerk is zeker de moeite waard. Veel mooier dan die nabij Bergen.

Tout en bois avec un joli mobilier ce bel édifice offre de vraies grandes et belles chambres spacieuses, avec un coin salon, une belle terrasse, un grand lit et une excellente literie. O peut se garer facilement devant. Bon petit déjeuner, toute une série de bornes pour recharger la voiture à 5 mn à pieds de l'hôtel. Un vrai coup de coeur pour cette nuit passée dans cet hôtel Nous n'avons pas dîné au restaurant car carte très chère comme partout en Norvège, mais nous nous sommes rabattus sur une petite pizzeria à quelques minutes à pieds. Une jolie église en bois debout à visiter dans le village.

This Hotel in old historical building and it managed by same family for many generations. Building is really beautiful, there is restaurant and lobby/sitting area and also a library. Breakfast was good, but nothing to special, gluten free selection was quite narrow. Rooms are quite small, and interior old, no air conditioning or even ventilation in a room except shower had exhaust fan, which was on only when you leave also the lights on. But i guess it comes with old buildings. Location is superb, in the center of everything in this small town, reasonable free parking spaces and helpful staff. But in my mind the price was quite high in return of quality of the accommodation.
