We stayed at Little Governors for a week, which some people may think is too long but I’d have happily stayed for much longer. After a delay leaving Edinburgh, we were 24 hours late in arriving but it was absolutely worth it. Hillary greeted us on arrival, where we were also give a much needed welcome drink and our Governors Camp water bottle. It was straight to tent number 1 before heading off to meet our guide for the week as we ventured on our first afternoon game drive. We were with Koros for the week and couldn’t have asked for a better guide. We saw everything, including the black rhino and elusive serval cat. . He is so knowledgeable, patient, and great company. I will definitely be asking for him again when we go back. We had Duncan and Felix as our waiters for the week too who were both wonderful and very friendly. Nothing was too much for them. The food was incredible, catering well for both vegetarian and carnivores. I did ask for smaller portions towards the end of the week as I was struggling to eat everything. The choice and quality of the wine on offer was great, the rose wine in particular is delicious. The tent was very comfortable and well equipped. It was Valentine’s Day and my Birthday when we were there, both marked by lovely little gestures including flowers, love heart chocolates, and a cake for my 40th. We also had a massage, which was lovely even if the warthogs were having a noisy squabble nearby but it’s all part of the experience! You can safari on both sides of the river, which gives you plenty options and area for finding wildlife. I couldn’t really say which was better for sightings, they each have their benefits. Overall, our stay was superb. You’ll never go wrong staying at Little Governors, it was somewhere I’d been looking at for a long time before we eventually decided to book and I’m so glad we did. It was the holiday of a lifetime and one we’re looking forward to repeating in future.
