Another amazing meal at The Old House. Beautiful food and Excellent service from our waitress Amber. She went the extra mile by making my friend’s dessert extra special with a special happy birthday candle. So lucky to have this place on our doorstep.

Called in for lunch after seeing it had been recommended as one of the best pubs in south wales. Lovely building and nice staff, sat down at our table, they forgot to ask us if we wanted drinks, did come back about 10 minutes later after getting drinks for a table that came in after us. Food came out quickly, starters were very tasty portions too big, mains came out within a minute or so after our starters were cleared, pies were huge with too much pastry, would be better in a pie dish with a just a pastry top. Dessert, biscoff bun filled with dense cream needed pouring cream as it was very dry.

Please read before making a booking at this establishment. I would like to warn everybody of its cancellation policy and underhand way of dealing with cancellation. They WILL charge you if you cancel within 24 hours (bookings of less than 12) and within FIVE days for bookings of more than 12. The charge is £10 / person even for children whose meals would've cost less than that. This includes if you keep the booking but with a reduced number of guests. Eg if you book for 10 and only 7 show up you'll pay £30. This ridiculous policy is hidden in the T&Cs so please read when booking but I urge you not to bother after the treatment I've received. I had to phone to cancel as I'd never received a confirmation email for the booking which was supposed to include a link to cancel according to the T&Cs. I was actually told on the phone I would NOT be charged after explaining my circumstances but they took £90 from me anyway. I would've kept the booking if that wasn't the case. They're denying this of course.

While travelling from Bridgend to Port Talbot, decided to take a detour and have lunch in the Old House. Sign outsude saying open for lunch so my son and I parked and enter the hotel via a doorway from th car park. Enquired at the bar if there was a table available, we were politely told that unfortunately there was a private function to which i thanked him and asked him if my so could you the toilet znd he pointed us in the right direction. We had only taken a few paces when we stopped by a very rude member of staff saying it was a private function and that we weren't allowed to be there blocking our way to the toilets. She did let my son use the gents as the door was behind us. She then blocked our way stopping us going back the way we had come. By the time my son came out of the gents she had been called away, but we were ushered out of a side door. While i appreciate it was a private function we were made to feel like something she had stepped in outside. My gripe is not only the way she spoke to us but i beleive there should have been a notice outside advising possible customers of the private function and not the sign stating they were open for lunch. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

Me and my family reverently visited the old house it was absolutely amazing the food was outstanding , the staff were very friendly couldn't do anymore to help were there for anything that we needed, would very much recommend this place we will definitely be back

My wife and I visitied the Old House last weekend for a meal and drinks. From the outset it was clear that this was not going to be 'just another meal out' but rather an amazing experience. In our arrival we were greated by friendly and happy staff who communicated very well. The staff clearly know roles and are very informative about the produce and specials board. I can honestly say that the Lamb was the best we'd ever had and knowing it was locally sourced made it even better. Full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Staff knew when to approach us to clear the tables and offer fresh drinks and engaged is fabulous conversation. Iyanah was a pleasure to deal with. The complete evening was a succes from start to finish. Top quality food, drinks and company. Looking forward to the next time! Definitely deserve their title of 'Welsh Pub of the Year'.
