Glen-Yr-Afon House Hotel

We recently had our wedding at Glen yr Afon. All I can say is everything was perfect. From day one, viewing the venue to the final day. Carol the wedding organiser is fantastic at her job and the staff were exceptional. Food was amazing some of the best I've had. There is not one negative I have to say about my experience. A perfect day and perfect venue!

We recently celebrated our wedding, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience at this stunning venue. Everything was simply beyond what we had imagined! The setting was beautiful, the atmosphere was magical, and the staff were incredibly attentive, making sure every detail was perfect. The venue’s charm and elegance made it the ideal location for our special day. Our guests were blown away by the beautiful surroundings, and the day flowed smoothly from start to finish. From the stunning ceremony space to the reception area, every part of the venue played a role in making our wedding unforgettable. A special thank you to Carol, the wedding coordinator, whose calm presence and attention to detail helped bring everything together seamlessly. We are so grateful for the memories made here and couldn’t recommend this venue enough for anyone planning a wedding or event!

Each October 50+ Blokes from Chipping Campden Men's Keep Fit choose a location for some Golf, Rambling, Cycling and a little Beer Drinking. This year most of the large group were lucky enough to spend either three or two nights in this lovely Hotel. No complaints whatsoever - Rooms are beautifully appointed and cosy, Breakfasts are generous and brought to the table by smiling and courteous staff. The location in Usk is ideal - quiet but just minutes from this charming town that has characterful pubs and friendly residents. We have no hesitation in recommending a stay here and extend our thanks to the staff who probably didn't know what to expect from our 'invasion'

Four of us went for afternoon tea everything about our experience deserved top marks from the very friendly staff to the lovely tea & variety of sandwiches cakes etc. This is the fourth time we’ve visited & never disappointed,could not fault it thank you. Jackie Smith

Beautiful hotel , more than attentive staff and a delightful wedding venue . General Manager Tim works hard in pleasing his guests as do all his staff. Special thanks must be given to Sulthan a true gentleman , great conversationalist and excellent host .

We had our wedding 21st September 24. What an amazing day we had. Food, staff and venue absolutely outstanding. Staff so accommadting nothing to much trouble. Just a perfect day from start to finish. Dj Darren was brilliant everyone danced the night away. Carol has helped plan this day and what a day it was. Carol you are amazing. Customer service above and beyond. Thank you all for making our day a perfect memory we can treasure forever 💖

A quiet nights rest. Room a little small, with worn furniture. Expensive for what it is. Staff, without exception, provided a perfunctory service. Restaurant very slow and service disjointed. A good menu, promising all local produce. Local doesn't mean good though, as my well cooked pork chop was 75% solid fat, it should have been sent back to the butcher. Drinks in the bar; nice and comfy, very relaxed. Breakfast was slightly odd as there wasn't a buffet, as is customary in hotels of this standard, every part had to be ordered and bought to the table. I wasn't keen on that.

My friends and I went for Sunday lunch. We were put in the bar area. The room was really dirty, thick dust. The starters were fine but the mains !!! My friends both had beef which was chewy. I had pork that was grey, I just left it. The vegetables were terrible, parsnips and carrots burnt black. Boiled potatoes, so hard you couldn’t eat them. Absolutely awful!

We booked our wedding here for the end of August 2024. The communication with Carol leading up to our stay was fantastic - there was no question left unanswered. The staff were amazing, very helpful and attentive to all of our needs. Our wedding day went smoothly, and the staff were a massive part of that. We will definitely be returning again in the future for anniversaries! Thanks again to all the staff for a fantastic few days!
