After coming here for years, either as a couple or in group cycling or group XC skiing we were surprized to see that full breakfast has been greatly reduced. Only two hot items remain and both are carbs - waffles and instant oatmeal. Gone are eggs and meat. They used to rotate 3 kinds of eggs, (scramble, quiche or mc muffin) and 3 kinds of meat (bacon, sausage patties or links) - that is all gone. Also gone is the juice machine - no more apple, cranberry or orange juice. Sorry, but when we are cycling or skiing I need something better to start the day than a bowl of Fruit Loops. I scored our stay this time as #2, because for the chinzy breakfast, because even "average" hotels have eggs on the menu.

Great place and friendly staff. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Had a great time drinking morning coffee by the fire and watching the sunrise. Enjoyed the view from our room too. Great social areas. Nice patio area, noticed guests hung out by the inside fire place too.

Such a hidden gem! We booked this spot last minute and we were so happy with our decision. We went to Saginaw Island for the day. Unique place with friendly staff. Rooms are clean and spacious. We enjoyed using the kayaks. Easy launch spot was appreciated! Breakfast area was kept well stocked. Really appreciated the gluten free bread (from a Michigan bakery) for toast. The water, coffee, tea in the lobby 24/7 is a nice touch. Would definitely like to return with more of our family!

The Crooked River Lodge is a beautiful hotel. I have visited them many times over the years. Their breakfast used to include scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon along with waffles, etc. During my last visit I was disappointed to learn that they no longer serve scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon. Everything is on the sugary side. Their only protein is a cold hard boiled egg, which is not appetizing at all. For the price they charge, they should at least have scrambled eggs.

What a hidden gem. We went for a quick mid week last minute trip up north and booked a room here. I travel a fair bit and I was really impressed with the lodging and the friendly staff. We recently stayed at a Drury hotel that has the best customer service and I think that Crooked River Lodge was on par with them. I loved that the pool/hot tub was open 24 hours for adults. Close to Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Mackinaw and Cheboygan.

We can’t say enough good about the lodge. Our room was spacious, clean and had all the amenities we could want. The view of the river is spectacular beyond the well kept grounds. Breakfast was delicious and a great variety of options. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Kayaks were available and even a little row boat. Plenty of parking for boats and trailers. The upstairs loft was spacious with couches, tables, pool table, many books,puzzles and games available. The outdoor fire pit was a cozy place to sit and socialize.

We’ve been coming here for years and love the clean rooms, friendly and attentive staff. Since new ownership, we did notice they have trimmed back on the breakfast. They used to have bacon and egg dishes that changed daily and it was always a treat to see what was available . Now it’s mainly breads and waffles. If you’re gluten free not many choices. Also, popcorn was complimentary, now they charge $1.00. Little things. Hopefully, hot tub and pool will be up and running soon! Great place with wonderful views. We will be back!

Beautiful views from all rooms based on the building layout. Large Outdoor gas fireplace is a nice feature, along with onsite walking trail.
They advertised a full breakfast, which it is not. There were no cooked eggs, bacon or sausage/ham. As such, it is a choice of only high sugar "foods" with the only exception being a fruitbowl with oranges/bananas and also boiled eggs. Since we were not interested in a sugarfest, we could not avail ourselves of the "included breakfast" and had to go up the street to "Bobs" to get what we consider a "full breakfast".
