Silva Beach Hotel

Loved it so much last year, that we booked again for this year. Lovely Cretan apartments all set around the two pools, and pretty gardens. (Loved the Bouganvilla around the restaurant, last year so much, that I have bought one myself) Easy booking in, (I asked for the same room, which we got) Mikailis helped carry my case up a flight of stairs which was a great help. We had a lovely bowl of fruit, for returning from the management, and again our cold plate in the fridge as we arrived about 10 at night. The room had been re-painted in the 'Xmas break' and everything was nice, spotlessly clean and fresh. New towels and new bedding. In the morning down to the dining room, Zoi came straight over to welcome us back again, and the Maitre D' who runs the restaurant beautifully. Super meals again, the profiterole desert and baclava were absolutely brilliant. La Strada, the Italian restaurant was a lovely place to have our Wedding Anniversary dinner too. Went for a drink in the beach bar and Kostas also welcomed us back... later in the day Zacharius in the other bar welcomed us back too. It was just like home from home, except we had sun and no cooking. Julie (the cleaner) came in most days, nice to see her still there, and knew after last year that the room would be spotlessly clean. Nice to walk around the area, love clear sea, easy walk to the harbour and back. (I have osteoporosis and asthma) and I managed it, plenty of benches to sit on, along the way. OK, a walk down to the restaurant, which was easy and a harder walk back, but a slope or steps (with a rail) to walk back up, made it easier. So pleased with with the week, that we tagged another 3 days on to it. Enjoyed it so much that we will be back either at the end of the year or next year (Health and God willing !!) N.B .. Vse bylo skvele! Ochotny a prijemny personal, skvele jidlo a hlavne nic nebyl problem. Denne vymenene i nejen rucniky a osusky ale i povleceni posteli.. vsude cisto! Hotel bohuzel nemuze za odkladaji pouziteho toaletniho papiru do kose.. to je proste jih… Neradi jezdime na jedno misto ale tady si dokazeme predstavit repete 😊

We booked this hotel based on altar numerous good reviews and tended to ignore the few poor reviews, how can so many be wrong!! We arrived about midnight and booked in with our friends and one other couple. The reception is open and airy and gave a good first impression, even the outside was better in the flesh than some photos I had seen. That unfortunately was the highlight!! We were shown to our rooms which we had previously upgraded to a sea view for €150 plus the extra €100 resort tax. Our rooms wee next to each other but the stairs leading to same were very narrow and uneven as was most of the pathways throughout the resort being made up of broken stone formation.the room was an ok size with twin / double beds however we found these very hard ( this is of course personal).the floor was cheap laminate and had multiple scores and scratches all over both rooms. Fixtures and fittings could do with a good clean with fabrics stained. We couldn’t see the sea view until the morning however our balcony was so small there was no room to use it other than hanging out washing on the provided line. There were 2 seats and a table but you physically can’t get to the seat to sit for the table without moving the table inside sit down then pull it back out ( not happening). The next day we did a bit of sightseeing in the area and returned to the beach pool area where we discovered that all the composite decking had expanded and separated all around the pool leaving gaps up to an inch between boards and also numerous lbs repairs using any piece of board they could find as different colours and widths. The tiles area at the tennis table was like gloss quarry tiles making them very slippy this was made worse as it was constantly covered in a film of sand. All the pathways and steps around the resort were crazy paved as stated earlier but you could see where any slip tape had been fitted and also areas where this had worn off and not replaced each step you took turned into a lottery whether it was slippy or grippy. Generally the resort was clean but the sun bed pads were very dirty and worn however as it turned out we didn’t get much use. We found the food was generally good if not repetitive but this is the same at others we have been to. Staff were generally friendly but a special shout out has to go to Kostas at the beach bar, such a warm and genuinely caring man. We tried both the Italian and burger restaurants and found the Italian to be very nice the burger one could easily be closed with no loss to the resort. Drinks are poor quality overall. I had seen mention on one of the hotels sites a tennis court and volleyball court however I had to laugh when I saw these, volleyball court didn’t exist anymore as beach and vegetation had eaten it all. Tennis court was half eaten by beach and then engulfed by ad hoc sun beds. Really in this states they would have been better covering the whole area with sand and not kidding themselves. Went to the spa to relax and possibly help with shoulder joint issues Instantly felt comfortable with people that understood the problem and spent time to make sure I was relaxed through the whole process. During the massage the areas of pain were attended to especially and during the whole experience everything was handled with upmost care and attention. Thank you to Andomios for the excellent massage and helping my joint pain ease as well as the advice on how to help this in the future. Overall great consultancy and service. Would recommend, Ty

What an absolute disgrace, there is no way this is 4 star, filthy pillows, mould in bathroom, children’s playground dangerous as lots of splinters, sun loungers mouldy, staff didn’t interact with us at all, not all inclusive!checked out two days early and stayed in a 5star hotel as it was so depressing to be in there
