Not sure where to start with this one! Tried to book on line which was really difficult, and emails (several) took 3 or 4 days to be answered so I decided to phone them instead, trying almost a dozen times before getting an answer, all very frustrating in fact I very nearly cancelled in frustration. That said, despite some major construction work to the hotel and builders vans taking up almost the entire car park (a fact that no one thought worth mentioning) the hotel was charming, stone built and sympathetically renovated into a very comfortable environment. The welcome at check in was friendly and the staff could not be more helpful, although I did suggest someone should answer the phone that was constantly ringing, no wonder I couldn't get an answer. The rooms was comfortable and had a good view of the countryside beyond all be it over the building site! Dinner was amazing and full credit due to the kitchen staff and the chef a very well presented and cooked meal which was thoroughly enjoyed. Good night's sleep followed in very comfy beds and up for breakfast. There was no information anywhere regarding times so being early risers we presented in the restaurant at a what I considered a reasonable 07:50 to be told quite rudely that breakfast wasn't served until 08:00 and then challenged regarding where I had come from, I informed the guy I was a guest which made no difference and was further told the door should be locked and I wasn't allowed through! At this point I decided to withdraw with my temper in check rather than cause a scene! Overall a really nice Hotel, excellent restaurant but what could of been a 5☆ Review totally spoiled by a small minority of staff and really poor communication there is so much here that is excellent and has promise but having spent a working lifetime In sales I find it hard to forgive being confrontational with customers or not answering the phone when it rings
