Mount Errigal Hotel, Conference & Leisure Centre

This hotel has really went downhill we stayed last year and will never return after the terrible experience we had this week. Management and staff would need to do a few courses on how to work in hospitality.

In my 42 years i have never experienced a stay like this. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here for a family hotel or booking the Foyle cup. The suits/management are a height of ignorance. Banging tables. Making kids cry. Putting autistic kids out of restaurant. Discriminating against. Arguing back with customers not backing down with shoulders up. Completely unreasonable on all levels. This went on for 3 days. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. I spoke to different people throughout my stay and the feedback was a disgrace. I’m totally dumbfounded.

We held our wedding here in July 2025. Bronagh and the Staff were nothing short of fantastic in handling our wedding, from the pre wedding planning, and during the day wedding service was nothing short of amazing. Any issues or concerns we had in the lead up or during the weekend we handled in a swift, courteous and professional manner. Guests we extremely pleased by the food they were served on the day, the service was of top quality, and the service provided to us on our second day was greatly received by us and our guests. For a wedding of our size (+200 guests) it was by far the best value for money within the area for holding a wedding (both Ceremony & Reception). The rooms where fantastic, well equipped and modern decor within them, as well as the breakfast provided for us on both days received amazing reviews from all guests, with staff being very attentive to us all during the morning (when the head's weren't the freshest!). We would recommend the team at the Mount Errigal for any wedding needs.

Very friendly staff. Had an issue with the window in our room, and without question an apology was issued and we were moved to another. I suffer from food allergies and they could be more accommodating and adapted the menu for me. Would 100% again go again.

My wife and I normally come to mount Errigal to have a break from family life but on this occasion we came as a family and everyone enjoyed this hotel.

We recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a mixed experience. Check-in felt rushed and impersonal. It didn’t feel very welcoming. We only found out about the leisure facilities by overhearing another guest being checked in by a different staff member — this kind of information should really be offered to all guests upfront. Dinner in the restaurant wasn’t a great experience. When a family member mentioned our food seemed delayed, the staff member responded bluntly with “Yes, we’re busy, there’s another function going on.” This came across as dismissive, and a more professional response would have been to check on the status of our meal. I also had a small issue with my food, but that was handled quickly and resolved without fuss by a different waiter. Housekeeping attention to detail could be improved — I found a bracelet beside the bed that had clearly been left by a previous guest. Then at dinner the following evening, we were seated at a table with chips on the floor and broken glass nearby. I reported this to the same staff member from the night before, but there was no sense of urgency or real concern in her response, which was disappointing. Breakfast was okay but overpriced, particularly for children — €10 for kids under 12 felt excessive for my 3-year-old. An à la carte option would have been a welcome alternative, as not everyone wants a full fry-up in the morning. Pancakes, omelettes, or lighter choices would be a nice touch. That said, the breakfast staff were friendly and attentive — I noticed them consistently offering tea and checking on guests. The leisure club was a highlight. It was clean, well maintained, and the staff were friendly and professional. Although a sign stated there was no lifeguard on deck, there was actually someone on deck the entire time we were there, which felt reassuring. Swimming hats are required and can be purchased at the leisure centre for €3. On our final night, we sat at the bar and each had a drink. Once we finished that drink, our glasses were cleared but we were never asked if we’d like another or anything else. Overall, the hotel has potential, but inconsistent service and a lack of attention to detail let it down.
