Aeolian Gaea Hotel

Stayed here for a week recently. George was very smiley, cheerful and helpful. Our room was quite a good size with a fridge, kettle etc. However no tea or coffee or sugar and no water in the fridge. We had to buy water for the room every day. The bathroom was clean but dated with a shower curtain over the bath and the nozzles on the spa bath were quite dirty. The towels were clean but very old and threadbare..in fact my cats sleep on better towels in their beds. The safe was situated right at the top and back of a tall wardrobe, my husband could only just reach it by standing on a chair..had I been with a friend or daughter no way could we have used this facility. Breakfast was quite basic, no fresh fruit on offer. Porridge oats were there but no means of making porridge as no hot water or hot milk. The juice was like squash. The pool was lovely, very clean with plenty of sunbeds. However pool towels came at a €5 charge to cover laundry costs (much nicer towels than in room)..pizzas at lunch were delicious but unfortunately the bar wasn't open after 9pm which was a shame as we met some lovely people. Sadly, I had a small bag of jewellery "disappear" from the room on the one day I forgot to lock it in my case. The maid denied taking it but after thorough searches of the room, it was gone. She was the only person to enter the room. I was very upset. Good points and bad points for this hotel and definitely not a 4*. Skala Kalloni is lovely however and a car essential for seeing the island. Would return for bird watching in Spring but probably not to this hotel.

Had a two week stay in this hotel.We had a very large room in the main building.The balcony overlooked the car park so not very picturesque,however it was very clean,good bed and usual facilities for Greece.kettle fridge and safe.I believe other rooms were smaller.The breakfast was fine although I’m not a fan of bacon and eggs kept warm much prefer freshly cooked.All the staff were friendly and Nikki at lunchtime was very efficient and pleasant.This is a very quiet hotel and perfect if you just want to chill.Never had a problem getting a sun bed and the pool was very good. As many have commented it’s about 10 min walk into town and with about 10 different Tavernas it’s just enough for 2 weeks.It’s a lovely harbour and again has a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere. It should be noted that the hotel does not have the bar open in the evenings which would have been nice for a last drink and to socialise with other guests. We hired a car for 4 days and visited many places on the island,the roads are good and not a lot of traffic and because Skala is central everywhere is no more than one hr away. Unfortunately I broke my wrist and had two compression fractures in my back on day 10 but everyone in the hotel,and at the hospital in Mytilene were very kind and helpful.Also Jet2 made sure I got through the airport and on to the plane home. In conclusion the hotel was fine for a quiet relaxing break.

We have just returned from a fantastic 10 night holiday at The Aeolian Gaea hotel in Lesbos. The hotel is superb with huge comfortable rooms, with an enormous walk in shower. The swimming pool is massive with loads of sunbeds to choose from. The hotel is family rum and everyone is so friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to ensure you have a great holiday. Breakfast was good with lots to choose from. The hotel is a 10 minute stroll into the main square where there are numerous good restaurants for a nice evening meal. I highly recommend the hotel and can’t wait to re book for next year. Thanks George

A quiet, peaceful and very clean hotel. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The pool is big and deep. I definitely recommend the hotel. The cocktails at the bar are prepared with care. The aperol spritz is great. The rooms are clean, the beds are large and comfortable. It is also a nice gesture to have a kettle and a capsule coffee machine and coffee in the room.

Location very good if you have a car ,rooms very big and comfortable,very poor breakfast below what I would expect from a 4 stars hotels to say the least ,no air conditioning on the lobby ,limitation of soap supply !! Very old towels … No coffee or tea on the room Friendly explanation from the owner for sightseeing . It feels like it was “near “rather than full hospitality

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at this hotel. Such a peaceful relaxing holiday, this is a family run hotel and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home and welcome. Lovely delicious breakfasts with all local produce and really good lunches as well. The rooms are kept very clean and the whole hotel is very well maintained to a great standard. The hotel is ideally situated to explore the island. There is little public transport in the area so we had to rely on taxis but hiring a car would be good. Skala Kallonis is a delight to visit, very laid back, great beach and lots of tavernas to chose from. This is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Would definitely recommend if you like a quiet relaxed holiday.
