Hotel Mont Vallon

L’hôtel est bien situé et le personnel de la réception efficace et sympathique mais attention au « vous partez à quelle heure demain? » quand on a encore les chaussures de ski au pied à 1630 et qu’on veut juste les clefs du local à skis. Les chambres sont de bonne taille et la literie confortable. Petite terrasse appréciable mais avec 2 chiliennes pas confortables du tout. Le petit déjeuner est de qualité médiocre et a 9h il manque déjà beaucoup de choses alors que le buffet ferme à 1030… À la brasserie de l’hôtel le personnel n’est pas professionnel et les plats médiocres. Le salon/bar était inaccessible à l’heure de l’apéritif à cause d’un séminaire. Aucun petit coin réservé pour les autres… Et des tasses et des verres par terre dans le couloir des chambres qui sont restés là… bien plus de 24h. À environ 500 euros la chambre en dehors des vacances scolaires…

We opted for a standard room with a Mountain View, thinking that we would be skiing most of the day. However, the room we were allocated was nothing like the image on their website. The room was really worn, tiles cracked in the bathroom, mould growing in the corners of the bath, the bath was badly chipped, the middle draw of the dresser was missing, leaving a hole. But worst of all, the window was tiny and on one side of the wall, making the room incredibly dark. You could see the mountain if you looked at an angle. We did complain after the first day. The fact our room hadn’t been made up until after we arrived back at 4pm was the last straw. We were told by the lady behind reception that the tags you put on the door asking for it to be made up mean nothing and you should phone reception if you want your room made up earlier in the day. She also explained that she may have been able to do something if we had told her before 10am. They really know how to make their guests feel welcome! We were upgraded on the last night to the superior room with Mountain View. It was like a completely different hotel. Unless you do book one of the premium rooms, you will have a 2 star experience. Even the mattresses in the standard rooms are smaller and cheap (very bouncy). Such a shame as the hotel is really well located. I have given the hotel 2 stars, which is reflective of the guest experience.

We were quite disappointed in our 4 night stay. We had paid more to stay here to have a mountain view room - but were told when arrived that “mountain view” here means “basic” room, which is very misleading. Staff were great accommodating this and after first night did change our room to one that could see mountains for the other 3 nights. However, that new room had a broken heater that came on/off randomly to 25 degrees so we weren’t able to sleep our second night. Staff sent someone to fix it, but it wasn’t fixed and they sent technician again who finally did get it fixed for our last 2 nights. I would just change starting at chicken part… Don’t get prepaid meal option. We had very uncooked chicken at the restaurant. Staff didn’t address it and the unsafe food concerns forced us to eat at other restaurants despite having prepaid for this one for last two nights. We are patient and understanding people but these concerns (and others) were all raised with staff, who assured us they would contact us to arrange compensation to address the lost night and refund for meals. It’s been 2 weeks and they haven’t reached out or responded to our several attempts to resolve. Summary: Location is great, but you will definitely enjoy your vacation much more at one of the many other options.

The images on orbitz does not do it service. The Lobby quite spacious, rooms spacious by European standards, the dining is superb, 3 restaurants in hotel with large patio service, superb profession service, and the chef preparations for dinner exquisite, gymn, pool, sauna etc. Staff very friendly and professional, would return. & best of all SKI IN/SKI OUT !!! For us skiers. Magical vacation for my wife & I.

The evening food was wonderful - lots of local cheeses and lovely menu items. Breakfast was also excellent. The staff were all very polite and attentive. Perfect for the lifts and slopes if you’re skiing.

Hotel Mont Vallon is excellent - one of the few places in Europe where you get ski-in ski-out experience. Onsite ski rental is excellent. The rooms are great; good size, excellently maintained, but a bit dated. Great internal design, though. Great staff everywhere; hotel, ski rental, ski center, etc. On the downside, food selectin at the brasserie was quite poor; breakfast buffet fair, but below expectations considering the price and star rating.
