"One of the worst hotel stays I have had in a long time. The room was so hot and stuffy with no opening windows and the air con locked so it could only be changed by staff. This led to not getting much sleep on the first night. On the second night I asked the staff if the air-conditioning could be put on and was told I can have it on for an hour. (Why is that even a thing). The shower in room 205 (disability wet room) pooled the water by the door meaning for the next 2 days whenever I entered the room I would get wet feet. The door to the bathroom wouldn't close (needs some maintenance). Very little noise insulation so you can hear everyone above and either side of you. So knackered after 2 nights with such little sleep that I checked out and decided to go back home a night early. Won't be going back"

"On entering the hallway of the building, there was a very bad smell from the drains. The entrance was dirty and not fit for holiday accommodation. The flat is above a Co-op, very noisy with delivery vans all night. The mattress was so thin, better off sleeping on the floor. The flat very run down, dirty and in need of renovation. Not fit for a family stay or any stay in fact."

"Booked to stay in Leek for a nearby wedding !!! Stayed at the Silk House hotel Nicholas and Julie were fantastic hosts , they couldn’t do enough for you . The accomadation was very comfortable with plenty of tea, coffee available in the rooms . The weekend we stayed was fantastic weather wise , so managed to spend a bit of time in the garden , enjoying the pleasant surroundings . The bar was extremely well stocked and Nicholas was more than happy to make his own choice of special drinks for his customers ."

"Hotel looks tired and run down. Room was cold.. Heating would only blow cold. Staff, very few & far between and not particularly friendly, bordering on rude. Food in the restaurant is atrocious, so bad! Curry was frozen in the middle. Chicken goujons slimy and undercooked. Put us off, so didn't bother with breakfast. And the icing on the cake, car parking! What a rip off!"

"This hotel is in a fabulous position close to the centre of Leek with parking close by. It is a beautiful building and the hosts are wonderful, welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. The bar is small, quirky and has a good selection of drinks with a little hatch to serve customers in the garden. Our room was on the top floor with lots of stairs, so not for anyone with mobility issues. The building is very old and the floors are wonky which would add a little charm but kind of accentuates how tired the room was. Big enough, comfy bed and a working shower it could just do with an upgrade. Overall would we stay again, yes. The hotel is spotlessly clean and you have most of what you need it's just not as polished as most people would expect today."
