Druids Glen Resort

Lovely hotel, I loved the decor of the lobby, the stone walls, spiral staircase and blazing fires. Our room was very nice and spacious, lovely big bathroom, bed was very comfortable too. We were near the stairs/lift and I was a bit worried that there would be a lot of noise but that wasn't the case. The food was good, but best of all I think was the service, there seemed to be lots of staff and they were all extremely friendly and courteous. The hotel was very busy but we didnt have to wait long for anything, there was a queue for breakfast but it moved quickly so not a big deal. We didn't use the pool so can't comment on that. All in all a very nice stay.

I am writing to express my continued disappointment regarding the lack of response to our recent inquiries. We stayed at your hotel on October 26th, 2024, paying €305 for what was supposed to be a 5-star experience. Unfortunately, our stay was marred by numerous issues, particularly with the food and beverage service, most notably the unsatisfactory breakfast. We provided detailed feedback via your online survey, and on November 4th, we received a response via email from Emilano acknowledging the issues and promising us a complimentary dinner for our next visit as a gesture of goodwill. We were assured that we could contact him directly when planning our next stay. In December, we emailed Emilano about staying in early February, taking advantage of the January sales event, but received no reply. After following up and copying in the General Manager on January 4th, we still have not heard back. This lack of communication and failure to follow through on promises has left us feeling bitterly disappointed. Given the price we paid for our original stay and the reputation of your hotel, this lack of customer service is simply unacceptable. At this point, we have decided that we will not be returning. Difficult to understand how this hotel is holding on to its 5*. Rooms are pretty standard and the mattress wasn't great unfortunately, still slept OK but expected better. At the Health Club, I was astonished to see that in the pool area, some parents of kids having a swimming lesson were wearing their outside shoes poolside, no evidence of a rule in that regard; I had forgotten my flip flops and when I realized this it grossed me out. The breakfast is a buffet; we went at a busy time and had to queue for about 10 minutes to be seated. They were taking ages to take our tea/coffee order and in the end I had to get up and chase down a server. My son was finished his breakfast by the time the coffee arrived. Disappointingly the coffee machine was broken and we had to settle for brewed coffee. Had to wait a while at the hot buffet for plates to be replenished. Except for the scrambled eggs, the breakfast was tasty. The food at the Garden Bar and Hugo's restaurant was very good. Hotel staff were all lovely and professional. Won't be going back unfortunately which is a pity. Hope this review is fair, I wish I could be writing a better one.

My husband, our 2-year-old son, and I recently stayed at Druids Glen Hotel for a relaxing two-night getaway. We specifically chose this five-star hotel and paid extra to stay in a suite, expecting a high standard of service and comfort. While the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, unfortunately, the overall experience was far from what we expected. The food service was extremely slow, and both nights we had to wait over an hour for our meals. When the food finally arrived, my husband's dish was cold, which was a major letdown. We overheard a waiter mentioning that the kitchen was backed up, but this was not communicated to guests in a timely manner. The restaurant seemed to be struggling with its service, and it significantly affected our dining experience. We had also chosen Druids Glen specifically for the spa facilities, as we were hoping to enjoy a relaxing treatment during our stay. However, the spa appointment was unexpectedly canceled on the morning of our visit. We were offered a 20% discount on a future visit, but that was of little use at the time, given that we were already on-site and had planned our visit around the spa. In addition to these issues, the service at the hotel was disappointing. We didn’t want to complain at the time, as we generally avoid doing so, but both my husband and I agreed that this hotel was more of a 4-star experience at best. Unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail and the poor service made it unlikely that we would return. The issues continued after our departure. We realized we had left our USB drive in the back of the TV and contacted the hotel right away. Initially, we were told housekeeping would check, but we never received a callback. After several follow-up calls, we were told the USB had been located and that we should send our postal address to have it mailed back. Days passed, and it still hadn't arrived, so we called again, only to be told the hotel had no knowledge of it. We were promised follow-up calls, but none ever came. The process was frustrating, and while the staff were generally friendly, the customer service was not as helpful or efficient as we would have expected. One of the most frustrating parts was when we were told that someone would phone us back the following day regarding the USB drive, but when we called back the next day, we were told the hotel was closed and that the staff member had no access to the email. This seemed a bit strange, as it was hard to understand why no one would have access to email. As of today, we are still waiting for our USB drive, with no real resolution in sight. The experience has left us disillusioned with the hotel's service, and while we had hoped to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant stay, we were instead met with delays, poor service, and unfulfilled promises. I've seen less kids at Centre Parks. Still jumping & running around the lobby at 11pm at night. The pool was full of kids during the adult only sessions. The Golf courses were closed due to frost, understandable, but the driving range was also closed due to storm damage, no notice of this prior. Our 3 course evening meal in Hugos took nearly 3 hours due to delays. The hotel needs to be honest & drop the 5 star accreditation. Not recommended for a romantic couples break where you've been looking forward to getting away from the kids. Staff were 10/10 though.

Husband booked us a 2 night stay in the presidential suite at Druids Glen as a Christmas present to stay for a break after new year. Made separate bookings for 2 spa treatments & golf with dinner booked in Hugo’s on both nights. This was not a package deal so he pushed the boat out after a hard year. Stayed in the hotel back in 2021 so was really looking forward to the trip and the upgraded experience of the presidential suite. Was so unbelievably disappointed in the whole experience that we checked out after one night. Have stayed in other 4 & 5 star hotels around Ireland & Europe in suites in recent years and this fell so below standard it’s hard to convey. Staff did not make any effort to be friendly or welcoming. Too many did not have good English and did not appear to understand when ordering food & drinks. Our lunch bill was for another table. No apology. The dinner was a disaster. Hugo’s staffing was chaos. Other tables around us appeared to be having similar issues waiting on drinks orders that never arrived or a waiter to take a food order. Hugo’s was full of small children & babies with no consideration that a couple might not want to be seated in the midst of this chaos when trying to enjoy a fine dining experience at 8:00 pm. The restaurant actually has 2 separate parts so having a kids/families seating area wouldn’t be difficult. We ended up skipping dessert to go back to the suite because a child was bouncing a ball in the little corridor near our table in Hugo’s at 9:30 pm. It is supposed to be a fine dining experience. Apparently there is a dress code. The presidential suite was underwhelming and outdated. The lighting didn’t have separate switches to turn bedside lamps on/off. You had to go back to the entrance to the suite to a panel of switches. The TV sound kept coming and going and seemed old. The bed was poorly made. There were dead flies on the window ledge. Everything was very basic and didn’t feel luxurious relative to other suites. There were no throws. There was a fridge but no mini bar, no wine glasses or herbal tea or any of the little luxuries one might expect in a suite to make it special. Was delivered a bottle of champagne & canapés & chocolates which offered a glimmer of the experience we were expecting but this was short lived. Was woken early by the noise of kids in the halls again. Room service breakfast was nice but nothing special. Got a phone call at 11:20 to say my whole afternoon at the spa was being cancelled because a member of staff had phoned in sick. Very little apology just matter of fact. Was already considering just getting room service on the second night so as not to experience the environment of Hugo’s again so that really was the last straw.
