This is a gorgeous place. The views from the cliffs out to sea are stunning, and the grounds are beautifully kept. I really can't say enough about the physical location. I would say it's at the 5 star end of 4 star. Lots of amenities, even in the final few days of the season. There wasn't the feel of everything winding down that you sometimes get in October. The private coves are amazing. It was quite a breezy week when we went, and we found the water in the left hand side cove to be less choppy than the right hand side cove. They have lots of sunbeds both around the pools and on the cliffs with sea views. Pools were cool in October, but the sea was still warm. Food was pretty good. There was a lot of emphasis on fish and seafood. My husband loved the gyros in the pool bar. They have food available for a looooot of the day too. I think the late dinner serving is til about midnight. One of the better all inclusive cocktail selections I've seen. I loved the strawberry daiqiri. Kids enjoyed the mocktails. It is quite a trek from both airports. Even direct it's going to be over an hour. It's a relatively isolated area, so great for people who want to come somewhere peaceful that has everything on tap. But not for you if you want to be close to the action. It isn't even particularly near to Rethymno town. The room was pretty poky for 4 people. From what I could see, most of them were, and there don't seem to be loads of options for bigger ones either. I didn't much care, but something to consider if you tend to like a lot of time chilling in your own space. Good air con. The entertainment/animation programme was still pretty comprehensive at the end of the season. They had kids clubs on during the day, with multiple age groups. I noticed some adult activities around the pool too. Evening entertainment- they had music in the lobby bar every night, which was the classier option. Then in the outside theatre there was a kids disco and entertainment. The majority of the time this was the animation team, and it catered more to the Butlins end of the crowd! There were a couple of external acts, including an incredible African acrobatic troupe. I learned during the week that lots of people come back every year, and I can see why.
