The Red Pepper House

Enjoyed my stay at red pepper! Joseph is star, together with Faith, Captain and the whole Team! The food was amazing! The house is beautiful! Very aesthetic. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a peaceful holiday! The sunset dhow was the best part of the trip!

Nach einer Safari durch die Nationalparks in Kenia und Tansania hatten wir Anfang März noch 4 Tage Lamu im Red Pepper House gebucht, um die Insel zu erkunden. Das Red Pepper Houase hat unsere Erwartungen übererfüllt. Die Unterkunft liegt etwas nördlich der Altstadt und ist ideal, wenn man Ruhe suchte und das Gedränge in Lamu Old Town oder das Getöse der Strandurlauber in Shela eher meiden möchte. Besonders erwähnenswert ist das aufmerksame und freundliche Personal der Anlage, das den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm macht. Auch der Koch versteht sein Handwerk. Frühstück und Dinner waren geschmacklich und optisch ein Highlight.

We had such a good stay here. The views are wonderful, the rooms are so comfortable and the staff are excellent. We had great trips on the House dhow - the sundowner and the day trip to a beautiful beach. We also had a very good guided tour of Lamu town. The staff are amazing. They did a musical evening for us, and all came down to the beach to say goodbye as we left. This is absolutely the lace to stay on Lamu

The property was unique in providing a combination of features, especially to meet your requests, such as arranging a dhow ride for one person.

We have just left The Red Pepper House and I can honestly say that my family and I felt emotional saying goodbye as our visit was just perfect. Manager Joseph, Faith, Caseanna and all the people who work at The Red Pepper are so hospitable and welcoming that they made our stay truly memorable. The house itself is beautiful and Fredrick the chef is outstanding - his set menu meals were the best that we had on Lamu. The beach in front of the hotel is not the prettiest on Lamu (you need to go to Shela for that) but the vibe is great. One afternoon there was a local football match outside the hotel that was great to watch, otherwise you can just gaze out at the sea and watch the donkeys and cows walk by - there is always something going on. We were there for the Dhow boat race on January 1st which was an absolute must - Joseph took us out on their Dhow and we watched the race from the water. Munawar, our captain also happened to be on the winning Dhow and it was a treat to have him jump back on board with us straight after the race to roars of cheers from the locals as he sailed us back to the hotel. New Year's Eve was very special as Joseph and the boys treated us to moonlight drumming under the stars. The sunset dhow is a must as was Joseph's tour of the old town. We're now spending a couple of days at the Pepponi but I wish we were back at the Red Pepper House.
