Esencia de La Palma by Princess - Adults Only

What a fantastic place. Food,Rooms ,all other facilities. 2points which we were disappointed with. Drinks dispenser for cocktails were disgusting and the Flies in the dining areas need addressing . Pools brilliant enough deck beds for everyone, even afternoon. Rooms very good and cleaning staff fantastic. We will be back.

Wonderful location overlooking Atlantic. Immaculate hotel and ocean view room. Fantastic selection in food. Would have been 5 stars but for several of the main lobby bar hotel staff having a very poor attitude towards customers. Two of the staff did not make us feel welcome at all, and one ignored customers outright. My main complaint was regarding lack of access for guests with mobility issues. We asked reception for a wheelchair and they had none. The receptionist told us we needed to hire one from an external agency but as it was Friday afternoon, the chair would not be dropped off until Monday. Also, the rental charge was €15 per day, over 4 days costing €60. The fee to drop off the chair was €60 and the fee to collect was a further €60. That was a total of €180 for 4 days rental. A ridiculous cost for something that should have been provided at no additional cost. This to me was evidence that the La Palma Princess is not inclusive to guests with disabilities. Which is something to consider before you book.

Beautiful resort, with amazing, attentive staff. We went during May half term but it was surprisingly quiet. The resort itself is well maintained and exceptionally clean. The food was wonderful with different themes each evening. Good quality meals with something for everyone. We never had to wait for a table, and were met with smiling, helpful staff The rooms were spacious and well equipped with a daily cleaning service. We will definitely return although I imagine it's very busy during the summer months.

Came here for a relaxing week to unwind and recharge my batteries and was able to do this. The rooms are lovely and you can’t fault how lovely they are and very well maintained. The pool has loads of sun beds and glad I booked in the adults only section as it was so peaceful and quiet and just what I needed. The restaurant was lovely but they could do with some more staff as the ones working were run off their feet. Food was varied but a few more gluten free options would be nice especially at breakfast. The lady at the pool bar was exceptional but it was hit and miss with the other staff whether they were friendly or not. The gentleman in the inside bar on Sunday afternoon was particularly rude and the reception staff need to be friendly. When I checked out she never asked if I’d enjoyed my stay and no personal touch. It might be they are run off their feet and need more staff but they are the first and last impressions you get off the hotel. For a quiet peaceful week it was ideal as there’s nothing else to do but relax. The adults only restaurant wasn’t open due to low number of residents which was a disappointment.

This will have been my 3rd visit to the Esencia (adult section of princess resort ) and I would still highly recommend it. As a solo traveller this resort is ideal and I met many other couples and solo travellers who had also visisdtgerd another of times and would still come back. At first I was disappointed to hear that the resort Origen restaurant would be closed but as always Esencia did not disappoint with the choice of an a la carte menu which was amazing all to be consumed in a quite place away from the hustle and bustle of the main food market. The main pool area was very quite during my stay but in the past when it was busier there is till plenty of space to relax in a quite environment with fresh drinks coffee and fruit available 11 - 5. Although not a complaint the only thing I did miss was decent sprits as understandably they us house sprits but had no problems discreetly bringing my own . Finally the Sunsets in this area are breathtaking every evening No count I will be back again

We had a very mixed experience at Escencia, the adults-only portion of La Palma Princess. Note that a lot of the review here are not for Escencia. Filter by "couples" to narrow it down. We booked a Sea View room. The room we were given did have a Sea View, but it also faced out directly over the day care and the family pool, filled with kids loudly having a good time. If you look at a map of the property, you will see that the daycare juts into the adults only portion of the resort, and a portion of the adults-only section juts out above the daycare (which is where our room was) We requested a different room and were given a much better one, but the front desk had a hard time understanding why we thought an adults-only room should not be in earshot of the family pool. The second weird part about the layout of the hotel is that the spa is on the far end of the property from the adults-only section, and the spa is the only place where pool towels are distributed. So you have to walk 6 minutes back and forth through the property to get towels for the pool. A five-star resort would have towels available at every pool. Why was the spa not positioned where the day care is, as a buffer between the adult pool and the family pools, and the day care not positioned where the spa is, at the far end of the property from the adults only section? The hotel bills itself as five star, but there are many things that are not five star besides the physical layout described above * The "exclusive reception" is in the main lobby next to the regular reception. When we arrived, the lobby was full of children. I like kids fine, but we were looking for an adults-only experience. * The wifi was flaky and the desk staff was unable to make it work on my phone * The shower had a single bottle of unbranded hair/body wash. A five star hotel would have separate body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Heck, even a cheap motel in the USA has soap and shampoo/conditioner separately. * No facial tissues are provided * No washcloths are available * No-steal hangers (not how you treat five star hotel guests) * Broken drawers in the dresser * No instructions on phone as to how to call reception (which it turns out is a five digit extension, who knew?) * No robes, which are promised in their marketing email * The bars close at 6pm, but dinner doesn't start until 7pm. So much for an apertif. * The wine I ordered with my reservation was barely drinkable; the wine glasses were dirty. * No way to turn off the light on the balcony. So much for sitting out looking at the sunset with our ocean view. * Lunch options were not adults-only. On the positive side, the restaurant was good and had varied items each night, good waitstaff, the pool was huge, plenty of loungers, the room was fine, and the property is well maintained. But it is not a five-star adults-only experience.
