Booked to go to Ruka as a last minute decision on skiing as we weren't sure where to go this year and wanted somewhere a little different to the usual Apres ski led resorts and wow did we make a great decision!! Ruka Village was perfect for myself and my 2 grown up sons and had everything we could have wanted right on our doorstep! The apartment was a 2 bed a very spacious, had great cooking facilities and 2 large bedrooms along with all the things above and beyond what we could need (dishwasher/washing machine) and of course the compulsory sauna in the bathroom! It's less than a 2 minute walk to the lifts and right in the heart of a lovely ski resort that is more about good eating than heavy drinking and that suited us this year! The ski area is smaller than most european resorts but has quiet lifts and very well kept slopes that make the experience just as enjoyable, and with the ability to easily head back to the apartment for lunch and a sauna and then head back out as the slopes don't close until 7pm we had the most incredible relaxing ski break we have ever had! Ruka village has everything and we will be returning to experience once again the beauty of Finland!

Arrived for our Christmas stay on December 22nd. Arrived to friendly reception staff welcoming us and asking us to drop our bags to our rooms as the restaurant had stayed open for us as we were a late arrival. This was unexpected but very much needed. The food in the camp restaurant was delicious. Most nights is a varied buffet with something for everyone. The staff were all very professional and helpful and you can order from menu at an additional cost, should the buffet choices not suit. Rooms are a good size, comfy beds and sauna. The kitchen has good facilities. The hotel has a small supermarket onsite. The hotel is situated right next door to the ski hire shop and is at the base of the rusa and Rudolph family park. You couldn't be closer to the slopes so no dragging your kids along reluctantly in their ski boots. Whilst here, I sadly left our passports on the coach transfer. The hotel staff, in particular Eva, have been amazing in helping. They called the police, coach company, airport and helped secure additional accommodation when I had to arrange due to needing emergency travel documents. Sadly, my holiday company (tui) didn't help at all. Thanks heavens for this brilliant hotel and all their helpful staff!
