Niraamaya Wellness Retreats Backwaters and Beyond Kumarakom

Resort is good but services are very poor. Staff are very slow and you will get anything demanded only after 3 or 4 reminders. Food is not upto the mark. Very poor response. Untidy bathrooms. Poor bathroom supplies. We booked because of the good rating but sadly regret paying the price for a 5 star accommodation with no amenities. Even 3 other families staying with us were repenting for having booked in Niramaya

Een heerlijke vakantie gehad in Kumarakom prachtige resort Niraamaya. Heel mooi gelegen aan backwater. Mooi aangelegde tuin. Ontbijt, lunch en diner waren fantastische gerechten zoals die in Kerala lokaal bereid worden. Heerlijk met de bekende Indiase spices. Van chef ***n hebben we een workshop gekregen om de lekkerste gerechten te maken. Ook genoten van de Spa die gestoeld is op de eeuwenoude ayurveda wijsheid. Kortom een aanrader.

Performance by various artists during evenings

Property is good, nothing else. Poor staff management, lower quality food, overall if you want service never go there. My personal experience on 15 Feb 2025 long wait for check in, after 4 hours of a tag to clean my room, no action was taken. Food quality below average i.e cold sambar in bf.

Quaint resort with an authentic feel. Has a different warm ambience compared to the neighbouring upmarket resorts. Food is excellent by chef arun . Staff are polite and hospitable. They go out of their way to accommodate requests. Genuine consideration for their guests which is rare to find in this day and age in the hospitality industry.. Will be recommending this hotel to our friends

I booked a 21-day Ayurvedic detox program at Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond, expecting a 5-star luxury wellness experience. Unfortunately, it was anything but. In reality, this resort is not even a 3-star property, let alone 5. ✅ The Good ✔ Polite staff – They tried their best, but they are clearly undertrained and understaffed. ✔ Beautiful location – The serene backwater views could have been a highlight if the resort was well-maintained. ❌ The Bad 1️⃣ False Advertising 🏨 The resort is not a 5-star property. The facilities, service, and treatments are subpar. 🌿 The Ayurvedic program was poorly structured, and my prescribed medicine took 4 days to arrive, completely disrupting the detox plan. 2️⃣ Unhygienic and Neglected Facilities 🛏 Dirty rooms – Stained linens, dusty furniture, and unclean bathrooms. 🏊‍♂️ Private pool was dirty – The filters were off until I explicitly asked for them to be turned on. 🚿 Common areas were neglected – Bird droppings, insects, and a visible lack of maintenance everywhere. 3️⃣ Uncomfortable Accommodations 🛌 The bed was so stiff that I had trouble sleeping and woke up every morning with my whole body aching. 🚫 This is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be a luxury wellness retreat. 4️⃣ Unprofessional Service 🙅‍♂️ Staff lacked proper training and some struggled with English, making communication difficult. 🕷 A spider web (with what looked like a scorpion) at my doorstep took days to remove, until I finally requested it to be cleaned. 5️⃣ Unsupportive Management 📢 Management was not on top of running the operations. I felt the need to manage the staff for basic housekeeping and service. 🚨 The Ugly: I Had to Leave Early By the 5th day, I couldn’t take it anymore and left early, spending extra money to find better accommodation and treatments in Kochi. 💸 Instead of healing, I left stressed, exhausted, and financially strained. ⚠️ Final Thoughts: Avoid This Place!!! While the staff tried, the quality of the facility, cleanliness, quality of the program and poor service ruined this experience. This is not a luxury retreat, and I strongly advise against staying here…! Kerala deserves better representation than this.. 😞
