The good things – The Island is beautiful The rooms are lovely, if a little dated Islam the Barman, we just couldn’t stop him bringing us drinks! The bad things - The food, there is plenty of it, but it gets very, very repetitive, the chicken, beef and fish dishes get recycled from one meal to the next in various guises and taste pretty much the same, breakfast is better with an egg station, omelettes etc and pancakes and waffles freshly cooked, in 2 weeks they only had lettuce and tomatoes on 2 days as part of the salad selection. Everything just looks shabby, the Resort is now 6 years old and I don’t think a single broken thing has been fixed, repaired or painted in all that time, the towels and bed linen all look 6 years old, clean but stained and yellow not white, there are several lights that don’t work or are just in need of a new bulb, the TV’s don’t work, our phone in our room did not work so we had to walk to reception to order room service, only to be told that it wasn’t possible to have, due to a technical issue! The ’Sports Centre’ it has 3 Kayaks, one of which apparently fills with water and sinks and only 1 paddle board, the Snorkelling trips to the house reefs are great, but the boat they use is falling apart and I was sure my foot was going to go through the deck! The staff although helpful, are not very happy and a smile was difficult to come by apart from Islam the barman! The journey, it took 3 plane journeys and a boat to get there and with the airport waits, it seems like an eternity! In conclusion, we only paid just over £4K for 2 weeks here, so we were not expecting much, so if you want to experience the beauty of the Maldives on a budget, then don’t be afraid to go, you won’t starve and all in all we had a great holiday, but if you are expecting 4 star luxury then you will be disappointed.
