The Waterfront Hotel Kuching

Good hotel in perfect location but very VERY noisy, which affected the overall quality of my stay. Don't expect a Sheraton, but the rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Furniture is a dated, but functional. Good shower and bathroom products. The hotel has one major fault. It has zero soundproofing. My room had a great view - sprawling river, bright lit bridge, and all the best central Kuching has to offer. As expected, I was woken up each morning at 5AM by calls to preyer from surrounded mosques. To add to it, the hotel has the world's loudest and slowest elevator. It makes a loud "ding" noise non-stop, regardless whether the lift is on your floor or 3 floors below, and regardless of time of day/night. After a sleepless night, I planned to ask for a room change and asked few guests on my floor staying in rooms facing different directions. Turned out they were all affected by the elevator noise and were woken by mosque calls. Staff was good and always responsive. Special thanks to Mike who efficiently accommodated me during medical emergency.

Convenient

Hotel's location is conveniently located with many food and souvenir shops nearby. Chinatown is just opposite the hotel. Local food can be found at the Temple Foodcourt. Staff are friendly and polite. Rooms are cleaned, and complimentary bottled water is replenished daily.
